I believe this has a lot to do with the climate where you are. In the North, it was always white after Memorial Day. If you wore white after Easter, you could get lost in a snow drift and they'd never find you. (Always thought that's why we had that rule.. to avoid getting lost in the snow).
Yes, my loves, you are correct. South of the Mason Dixon (give or take some) you may wear white anytime between Easter and Labor Day. North, it's only acceptable on Palm Sunday and Easter, and then not again until Memorial Day. Labor Day still applies.
