Fraternity Rush

I was just curious to know what other fraternities do for rush (activities, food, etc..) Like, what exactly do you do with the new guys? We have our BBQ's and whatnot, and was just wondering what other houses did, maybe spice up next years rush with something a little different. It may be a dumb thread but..

It's not a dumb question, but can be easily answered through judicious use of the Search feature. This is a topic that has been discussed many times before.

My chapter got kind of bored with the generic 'have a cook out, invite a sorority, and socialize with the rushees'. So this last semester we tried to have 'themed' nights and flat out put just dumb stuff in our ads to catch people's attention.

One night we had a casino night for rush-which really went well. Got everyone talking and interesting in playing poker, blackjack, dice, etc.

Another night we put an ad in for 'snow diving' and something else (which I can't remember). The thing is, we didn't have snow and people came up just see what the hell was going on. Once we got them to our house, we had an easy conversation tool. 90 degree weather cuts down on the snow here...

we do different activities every night. they usually involve going to a Diamondback or Suns game, playing football, casino night and the like. The best event we have done was broomball.

its kind of like hockey. you rent a rink out before they zamboni it so its not so slick, and play hockey with brooms and a huge ball with shoes on. its fun, you slide all around the ice, knock into people, it gets really physical, and is really tiring, but its a blast.
