Fashion ? about over the knee boots

I have been noticing that over the knee boots are very in right now and I considering getting a pair. I have a pair picked out, the heel is not too tall. I'm 23 and I will mostly wear them going out with by boyfriend and such. However, can I get away with wearing them to work? I work in an advertising agency and would wear them with longer skirts past the knee so most of the boot would not show anyway. There are plenty of co-workers you wear boots, but none I think are over the knee or at least none that I've noticed. Thoughts anyone? I want these boots bad and don't want to have to buy another pair of knee boots too.

I don't see why not! As long as you're wearing them with a more a-line skirt than a tighter fitted skirt. I've seen that style...a brown boot, a brown/tan wool a-line skirt and a pretty cashmeire (sp?) sweater. I thought it was pretty but me being 5 '4 would never attempt wearing boots that tall!

I think knee-high boots are much more work appropriate than over the knee...

I know you said they'd be covered up, but Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (the elevator scene when she shocks the people with the 'run in her pantyhose') is ALL I think about when I see those boots.

If they are covered up, though, why not just do as GeekyPenguin suggested and wear knee high boots? Then, if they show at all, it's acceptable anyway.

OK those look like prosthetic legs. Sick.

I don't know if over the knee boots are becoming popular, but I definitely agree with Kath...knee high are a lot better for the workplace. If you're wearing thigh high and you say your skirt will at least reach the top of the boot....then it should be a lil longer anyway since you're at work...in which case the knee high would fit perfectly.

The only thing I think of when I see over the knee is "f*** me boots", hooker chic, or trash trash trash.

Ditto to the Jules. Knee high boots just mean that you might be easy, over the thigh ones ensure it.

In all seriousness, if you have to stop and ask if it is inappropriate, it probably means that you haven't seen anyone wear these around the office. I work with a lot of really young 20-somethings in marketing and I have never seen over the knee boots on them. I would have to say below the knee is classier.

Fashion ? about over the knee boots

Okay, obviously, no one thinks I should get them. My original desire was to purchase one pair of boots that could be sexy to be out at night in (over the knee) and one that I could also wear to work. I agree that knee boots are more appropriate for work, but if my knees are covered with a skirt..what difference does it make? I'm not considering buying thigh boots (e.g. like Julia Roberts)...these boots come about 3 inches above the knee.

Anyway, maybe the question should be...do you think over the knee boots (not thigh boots) are appropriate at any time? Out with my boyfriend, etc. Maybe I should ask him.

That sounds like your thigh to me.

Ditto.

I think you can wear knee-high boots out, it's done here all the time.

Be careful asking the boyfriend for fashion advice and suggestions. One day I told my boyfriend he could pick out my clothes and I ended up with a horrible outfit.
short pleated plaid skirt
white button shirt
black bra
thigh high stockings
black platforms

This was all BEFORE Britney Spears came on the scene.

I'm a substitute teacher and I wear my knee-high boots to work all the time, with pants or with skirts. I think it's fine. (My boyfriend thinks knee-high boots make girls look "easy," as well as those backless tops, but hey, I didn't stop wearing them. Well, the boots, anyway...backless tops remind me of freshman year.) Mine have quite high heels, but you can also get them with lower, chunkier heels if you're concerned about looking too tarty.
