Traditions!

On the pin thread, we got to talking about different traditions that each chapter has. I thought this would be a fun place to mention them - as you think of them, all at once, however you'd like to do it.

One that we had was the Football Breakfast. On game days, we would make tons of pancakes & eggs, and ask whichever guys and/or fraternities we were friendly with to stop in on the way to the game. We always had between 40-60 people for the pre-game!!

hmmmm....lets see, one of the traditions I loved when I was an alpha (and continued when I was a Delta) was walking into meeting after the Deltas had begun everything to them singing "little Little Adpi" or "Remeber" or any of the fun Recruitment songs.

We also had a sleep over on bid night for all the alphas. During the sleep over, all the Deltas would meet before for dinner then come over to the sleep over as Prides to meet the alphas. It was awesome!!

At retreat, we always did a lion pass on the last night we were there for the Seniors. This lion pass was to say what we loved about retreat and our sorority and what we hope to see happen in the up coming year. The seniors would get the lion last and say their good byes. It was always fun and sad.

I'll think of some more....

We had something similar to lion pass at our sisterhood's. It is called "Pass the Alphie". We passed around a stuffed Alphie and the person with the Alphie was the only one who could talk. They could talk about anything and talk for as long as they wanted. It usually ended up with everyone crying and hugging each other! So girlie!!

Also, each semester when the Senior's leave we have a Senior Dinner and Wills. (I think most chapters do that). When I can think of more I will add them.

Hmmmm.... traditions. Isn't that what Greek life is all about?
We had Senior Wills at the end of every year. There was some interesting things passed down. After all the seniors finished, we would get in a big group/ circle hug and sing the "Friends are Friends Forever" song.
At our Christmas party/ gift exchange, we would have the youngest member at the time dress up as Santa and pass out the gifts. We even had an OLD Santa suit. It had to have been from the '70's. (Now I'm dating myself. Sorry to all you sisters who attended school in the '70's or earlier!)
Also- every time we had a cake... some of it always ended up being smeared in people's faces. All in good fun of course.
What memories.

We sing that song every year at recruitment. It makes me want to cry everytime I think of it! I love that song! "And a sister is forever, just believe in ADPi. And a sister will not say never, cause our friendship will not die. You have helped us all to grow, and we'd like to let you know- That a lifetime's not to long to live as friends...No a lifetime's not to long to live as friends"

I waited for you to post, because I know that you remember a lot more of the traditions than I do!

After you graduated, it wasn't so much the cake that got smeared, but my diamond sister started the whipped cream fights that of course got all over the (just cleaned) carpet before formal recruitment

We also started getting a large group of sisters to go out to eat following preference night of formal recruitment (my senior year and the following year, at least)...we always went to Applebee's

There's also the infamous WangDoodles for the silly stuff that happens to sisters throughout the week...some of those were pretty interesting!

I guess we kinda started a new bid day tradition in Beta Beta two years ago....

We have cheese whiz fights... I'm talking a/b cheese in a can.
We will go and buy like 4 dozen cans and by the end of Bid Day EVERYONE is covered head to toe in cheese, it's gross but it's fun!

We also have a Senior Wish tradition...

Each senior will write down wishes they would like to have and the chapter does its best to get what the seniors want...

Example..
One senior wanted a street sign of her name... We got it for her. (I'm not at all advocating stealing street signs! It is illegal!)
