Filene's Basement ROCKS!
So I went out to spend some of my XMas cash, and I discovered Filene's Basement for the first time. I bought a $90 Calvin Klein sweater for $18.50 and another really cute shirt, regularly $60 for $12-something!
Man, I have to visit my hometown more often!

I wish we had one of those near where I live! I've known about them forever (thanks to all my fashion classes), but never been to one. I'm soooo jealous!

Ooooh I *love* Filene's basement! When I was a youngster I turned my nose up at the place but now when I am spending my OWN money (occasionally anyway lol) it's nice to have places like that and TJ Maxx, Marshall's, etc. where you can get fab clothes for even better prices! Whooo!

Filene's Basement is your friend. There used to be a few suburban locations around here (Chicago area) but they closed down. Now the only ones around here are downtown...one on State Street (next to Carsons) and one on North Michigan Avenue.
You know what else I like? Nordstrom Rack.

Loved Filene's when I lived in South Portland, Maine! I bought tons of chubby clothes there after I had my older daughter and wasn't back down to my pre-baby weight yet.
We have Nordstrom Rack here in Maryland It's all the way on the other side of Baltimore but is well worth the trip around the beltway.
The place I am DYING to try is Century 21 but unfortunately that would entail staying overnight at my in laws' house in North Jersey and I just can't subject myself to that

I LOVE Century 21. It's very crowded and a lot of people say it's overrated, but I think it's a pretty cool place. I went one morning and I found the best pair of Miss Sixty jeans for 30; they say it's best to go in the morning to beat the crowds. I also found a leather Longchamp purse for $40!

What is this century 21 yall are talking of....30 for miss sixty jeans!!!!! i need to go to this place!!!! ahhhh!!!!
I do also love Nordstrom Rack, occasionally I'll find cute stuff there!!! Actually my favorite pair of black pants is from there!!!
Ooooh and I also LOVE Last Chance...its owned by Nordstrom and everything is freaking cheap...such good deals there!!! I got diesel shoes there for 29, coach shoes for like 29 as well and in high school i got a kate spade purse (like the medium sized Sam) for only 30 or 40 bucks...in completely perfect condition (now they're charging like 80 there.....but I knew about way back when!!) and if you go early enough, you can get seven jeans or paper cloth denim for like 50...but I've never snagged a pair there!

You get what you pay for. It's fine if you want decent clothing at cheaper prices but pretending like it's a goldmine for amazing clothing is ridiculous.
Century 21 for example is filled with gross grubby people fighting each other for whatever they can get their hands off. 75% of the merchandise is damaged, poorly taken care of and presented, or the hideous styles (you know those great jeans you find and you say why did they make them in purple). Aside from that 99% of the merchandise is older. If you're trying to play the game of buying trendy clothing, you might as well try and catch the train.
Next you'll all start bragging about how amazing outlet malls are. If you do it, don't brag about it and pretend it's amazing.

I'm a big fan of Off Fifth, the Saks Fifth Avenue outlet. I've gotten really cheap Coach and Burberry purses there. You can usually find Kate Spade, Prada and Fendi there too. I'd rather look like I spent a lot of money than actually do it! lol!
