Meet & Greet

In our group, The Sisterhood of Mount Ida, one of our recruitment events is called Meet & Greet. Meet & Greet is one of probably the most important events our Sisterhood has for the community. It's our chance to get to know potential Sisters as well as for them to get to know us. It's strictly a social event, but for the latter part of the event it's all about giving information.

We let our potential members know
- Sisterhood history
- Our goals
- Why it was created
- What we do

Does anyone else have this type of recruitment social?

I think that maybe before you do something like this or try to recuit on a larger scale you need to get some more sisters through different ways. Friends, acquaintances, etc. Having a group of 2 people then trying to have a table or a meet and greet or such isn't going to come across well. A total stranger likely isn't going to want to join a group of only 2 people. Get a few more, then make more of a campus wide effort to recruit. You have to start small in order to grow. You can't just go from 2 to 30 or whatever number. You're going to overextend yourself and the other members. It's not an overnight process. I'm not sure if you've read the "Rush as UCSC" thread or not in the rush forum, but read it again to see what a difficult journey it can be.
