There was a big article in the Atlanta paper yesterday about stores that offer gift cards but then have a service fee if you don't use the card after 6 months. Read the small print!

i know that barnes and nobles does that with their gift cards. i think you have a year or six months or something to use it before they start taking money away. i think its ridiculous because its not like you can use it somewhere else or they give you money back from the card if you use it and have money left over.
I read a stat (yea I know they can be stretched, lol) that 1 in 4 cards don't get redeemed anyway. Most mall store cards are for at least $50 so think of all that "free" cash!
i love getting/giving gift cards.. but you def have to remember to use them not too long after getting or you just forget.. i actually have one from bath and body works that i still havent used
I have a friend that loved getting gift cards but never used them (for many reasons) she for her it is like free money. PLus most people go over the limit and the store gets customers that may not have shopped there any way.
I usually use my gift card with in a month or so. That way I don't lose them or they don't put a service fee or anything.
I absolutely LOVE getting gift cards - and I certainly use them! But I did find out something interesting about them recently. The clerk who sells one to you makes NO commission on the gift card! But when you cash it in, the clerk who helps you then DOES make the commission! That doesn't seem quite fair to me.
Do any of y'all ever use MyPoints? I get a lot of gift cards from there!
