Positive things about where you live.

Hey all, I wanted to start this thread because Texas is awesome and so are other places around this great country. So what are some cool things about where you live?

I live in DC, some people call it the capital of the free world. I think we have the coolest subway/rail system in thr country. We have all four seasons. Awesome restaurants, fabulous neighborhoods and a lot more. JMUduke can piggy back on to this because shes living in dc right now.

Oklahoma... Or at least in Oklahoma City there is so much diversity so far as culture! Rednecks, oilmen, immigrants, etc... Lots of diversity.

My campus has a lot of international students... Get to know these folks, they can really broaden your outlook on the world.

My town is nice, safe and quiet. Sometimes annoying when you're a news reporter trying to find a story (I'm a reporter for the campus TV news station) but it's a nice place to live.

I'm right in the middle of the US, so no road trip is too far.

Also DC has the mighty Potomac River (the river where George Washington threw the dollar across). Lots of boating and some fishing, but a whole lot of regattas between the high schools and colleges in the area.

Another cool thing is that DC is centralized. Its a 3 hour drive to Philly, and a 1.5 hour drive to Richmond. We have the awesome cheasepeake bay. The best crabs in the country. and We have the awesome Redskins that are going all the way this year!!!!!

Annapolis, MD...

Awesome sailing/boating
Four seasons w/a mild winter
Friendly people
Near some of the best hospitals in the country
Wonderful dining
Two hours to the ocean
Easily accessible to D.C.
Racially diverse
Southwest Airlines flies into nearby B.W.I. airport (in other words, you can travel cheap from here)
Blue crabs steamed with Old Bay Seasoning...yummm!!!
We have a Nordstrom!!!
And, if I were 15 years younger, tons of cute midshipmen milling about

This is truly a great place to live

Annapolis is awesome, I love the crabs and ocean city. And dont foget the boardwalk fries. YUMMM!!!!

I guess ill do positive things about where I go to school.

I go to the University of Massachusetts - Dartmoouth. It in the southeastern part of mass, right near Cape Cod. We are also only a fairy ride aways from Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. If you like the winter we have it here.

Our campus is one of a kind, its made all out of concrete. We are an hour south of Boston, and 20 minutes west of providence. So we are close to the club scene.

Mountains and the plains...

Six feet of snow at a time

Friendly people everywhere...

Ski resorts in your backyard...

Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks...

Bozeman rated #2 medium sized college town by epodunk.com, and Missoula in the top ten as well...

So many things to see, for a vacation you'd need a month to do it justice...

Just like the Dixie Chicks song, lots of "wide open spaces"...

Colorado (Denver) has everything.

Mountains and plains. Winter and summer. Highly educated population. More federal offices/workers than anywhere else outside DC. The largest performing arts center outside NYC. Professional and college sports. Diverse population -- although not as diverse as many. Denver has over 300 days of sunshine per year -- equal to San Diego -- but still has some amount of winter (even a "heavy" snow usually only lasts on the ground a couple of days because of the dry air and sunshine. Most of Colorado's snow falls in the mountains -- less than an hour away)

As a former governor used to say, "It's a privilege to live in Colorado."

The beautiful women
The partys
The standard of living
The fact that for 50,000 a year our weathermen get up, go on TV and say the weather will be "nice" EVERY DAY.

I am from a rural town in Arkansas (500 people!) and it's really a great place to live. Yeah, maybe it's a tiny little town. But down one of the many gravel roads in our town, there is a natural spring with a spout inserted so you can go fill up bottles with fresh spring water. How many of you city slickers can say that?

Our town newspaper doesn't have news about crimes, politics, and such. No, open our paper and you can read about a guy who grew a 3-pound tomato, or read about who visited who and who went on vacation, and who had a birthday party. And most of the names mentioned in the paper are people you know, or know of. Can't say that about a big city paper.

The little local grocery store is owned and operated by a family who knows your name, and knows you'll come in on a regular basis and buy chocolate ice cream.

The church I go to has only 30 people on Sunday mornings. We all know each other extremely well, and you notice right away if someone's not there. Oh, and might I mention that our church used to be a one-room schoolhouse?

I guess maybe it sounds hokey, but it's small town charm, and I really love it.

I'm originally from Peterborough Ontario Canada. I live right in Kawartha Lakes: COTTAGE COUNTRY!

what can i say? I have lakes and lakes surronding me, i live in a beautiful natural surronding in an AWESOME COUNTRY where the the beer flows as much as the rivers do!

Hey if everyone from the states and around come to my hometown for vacation i have it pretty good!

This much older San Diego native would also add restaurants as well as decent-looking fellas.
