MTV Diary: Beyonce' - Destiny's Darling

I am watching MTV Diary: Beyonce'. She is recapping all of the things that happened while she was at the MTV Video Music Awards. Is anyone else watching? She said that "Sasha" is her alter ego -- she said that she loves Chris Rock and so does her Seabiscuit.

Just curious....

Question/Concern:

Did Kelly Rowland receive the SAME publicity when her CD came out? or even when she played in the movie with Jason and nem? Did Kelly have her OWN Diary?

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.

- The two original girls left Destiny's Child, because they felt Beyounce's father(their manager)was treating Beyounce differently from the other group members. Personally,I would NOT want to be in a group with 1 main lead singer. They will always be in the spotlight, which could lead to them getting the "BIG head." In a group, each member should get to sing lead. A group is about sharing and being treated equally. So,I agree with your last statement.

I don't know. I kinda have to disagree with this one simply because I don't believe that Kelly would have gotten this far had it not been for Destiny's Child and the management of Mathew Knowles. That and the fact that it's not the fault for Beyonce, Kelly or Mathew Knowles that a lot of people are so receptive and intrigued by Beyonce as opposed to Kelly (or Michelle). Think about it like this: Mathew Knowles is the manager of both Beyonce and Kelly (unless I'm mistaken). I'm sure that the man is smart enough to try to market them both equally hoping for the same success for both of them. Why? Because it will bring him more money. If Kelly's album does well...more money for him. If Kelly's movie career blows up...more money for him. Again, all he can do is put them out there. It's up to the media and the public to accept them and obviously right now everybody is loving Beyonce. And of coarse every parent who love and care for their child want to see him or her do well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think the majority of us will be the same way. And finally, if Kelly Rowland isn't having a problem with the way her career is being managed who are we to criticize? We aren't getting paid for it.

They weren't. For example look at this Friday:

1. The Fighting Temptations comes out
2. Beyonce will be on no less than three (3) talk shows: Wayne Brady, The View, and Oprah.

Not to mention the fact that this movie has been getting promoted like crazy on MTV. There are commercials, a Movie House special, Beyonce's diary, AND they did a special on Gospel music and made a point to include the movie.

While I agree that Kelly may not have gotten this far without the help of DC or the Knowles family, you've got to admit that both she and Michelle are NEVER in the spotlight as much as B.

I would love to be in the background shoo-whopping my way into paying for my house, my parents's house, my car, my parents' cars and my graduate education. As I sit here on the internet looking on monster and responding to threads in a chat room, I ponder what I am going to do as a money-making scheme so that I can work and make money at the same time. I am actually contemplating buying a lottery ticket or two since you can't win if you don't play. I don't need to bling, bling . . . I would be OK with blink, blinking. Let me be a part of a group dancing around and hollering/singing/screaming into a microphone. I would do it with no questions asked -- me and my grammy and my millions . . .

My outlook on the whole group situation changed after watching Driven on VH1. Of course B is going to get the spotlight, her vocals are stronger than everyone else. It wouldn't have matter if it were Mr. Knowles, Clive Davis or Puffy. Those girls would have been treated the same way.

If it was me, do my clothes, hair and make-up, and hand me a mic to drop a note every now and then. Shucks, why sing I'd just lip sync. As long as I'm getting that nice check I wouldn't have gotten had I been doing something else. I'll cut them some slack though. They were young, hadn't had a taste of the real world and couldn't see the bigger picture.

I would hope that if my father or mother owned a company that I wouldn't get treated the same as the other employees. Nepotism is nepotism and if I am not going to get any benefits from working for my parents/having my parents work for me then why continue to do so. I don't blame her parents for thrusting her to the forefront -- I would do the same for my child (if I ever meet a man that I want to have children with).

The Fighting Temptations is getting so much promotion on MTV b/c the studio that made the movie is a part of the MTV umbrella.

Kelly's CD did very well overseas and she is big over there, but it didnt quite catch on in the states.

Michelle's album did well in gospel circles, but that is it. She's working on a second one, I think.

Destiny's Child was created in order to launch Beyonce's career. i could see that from Day 1 because the "spotlight" was constantly on her (in videos, interviews, etc.). I can't say that I blame the originial two girls for leaving, especially if the image of the group was presented in such a way that every member would get a chance to shine (sing lead, etc.).

Michelle, IMHO, has GREAT vocal ability (Her gospel CD was pretty good) and she looks good on camera and off. She has potential.

But to be honest, Kelly just doesn't interest me at all. She sings ok, but so far I haven't liked ANY of her new material and I don't think she's that "photogenic" either.

I think it all boils down to who has a marketable image and the right folks backing them.....Kelly vs Beyonce, Rueben vs Clay, etc..........

Clay is going to be on The Miss America Pageant and they are advertising him as "American Idol Clay Aiken."

Michelle of DC:

I saw her last year in Vegas with Luther, Gerald Levert, and Angie Stone and her voice was WEAK. I dunno how she sounds on her CD, but in person....naaaaaaaaa.

I AGREE! I've heard her perform her gospel songs - not in person though. To me, she sounds like her throat hurts or she has a cold. Her voice sounds horrbily raspy. I'm glad she has stayed in DC because I would hate to see them go through another change, but it doesn't seem like she has really ever fit in with Beyonce and Kelly. It's kind of like they were all trying too hard.
