Tryin to be a kappaman

I really wanna do this thing. Ya'll don't understand. I got this burning desire. Besides research what mental notes should I keep in mind. I know that lines don't cross until they stand together and are ready mentally and physically. But one thing I need to know before I join this is:
1) Is it going to conflict with my strong affirmation with being a Christian man
2) is it still really all about achievement...Trust me I do love all the flash and glamour but I can be a model for that
3) I wanna be the one to make a serious impact on the community and the organization. Will the frat allow me to do that or will I just be forced to fall in the ranks

I am not greek, but merely a sisterfriend who wants to help you.

First, talk with the members on your campus. There is no other way to learn more about KAPsi than by learning what you can from members on your campus.

Secondly, I suggest you visit KAPsi.

This is the best that I can do for you. If you want it, I mean really want it, you'll find it.

1) Is it going to conflict with my strong affirmation with being a Christian man

My thoughts:
If that happens, it is more a reflection of your conviction than the frat. Every man needs to be a man, and NO frat can teach that. My Older Brother Taught me that "Men make Kappa, Kappa does not make Men"
The Founders of Kappa were God fearing men, and I have quite a few frat that LOVE Kappa and are no less devoted to the Lord.

2) is it still really all about achievement...Trust me I do love all the flash and glamour but I can be a model for that

My thoughts:
We are the NUPES! Flash and glamour comes with the territory, but that is the "be all end all" only in the minds of those whose intentions were questionable to begin with.

3) I wanna be the one to make a serious impact on the community and the organization. Will the frat allow me to do that or will I just be forced to fall in the ranks

My thoughts:
You can make an impact in your community without the frat, however, the affiliation does offer quite a few avenues and resources and opportunities to serve if you desire.

I hope I helped you. To make myself clear, I am NOT trying to convince you. If you want it, you don't need convincing. But Don't take my word, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, FOLLOW YOUR HEART, and LET THE SPIRIT GUIDE YOU.

....and If you are worthy, I will see you on them golden shores......

It is great that you want to become a KAPPA man. If you feel it in your heart and know for sure that is what you want to do, which it sounds like you do, you have to make sure you know what you are getting into. In other words, study up on the frat! You ask will it conflict with you being a christian man? Definitely not! Our 10 founders were GOD fearing men and you will learn that our history is laced with biblical scriptures. If anything, it will help bring you closer to GOD. One of the 10 commandments state, "worship no man before me(GOD)", with that being said alone, the frat will never stand in the way of any man trying to be close to GOD. Now about achievement and do we still stand for it. The glamour and flash comes with the territory so it is not to be focused on once and if you become a member of our noble klan. Kappa Alpha Psi was built on the foundation of achievement. The frat is a business, so to operate the frat without achievement would be disasterous. In order to have a successful business you have to achieve. KAPPA men are achieving every day. Our guide right program is as strong as ever and we have a big impact in the community as well. So to answer your question, yes we do achieve every day and we are very active in the community. So, no the frat will not stand in your way of having a POSITIVE impact on the community. Hopefully, you are already active in the community anyway. The frat has a lot of members but not a lot of members work for the frat. That is true with all fraternities and sororities. Every member of Kappa Alpha Psi was a man first and should live his life that way. So if you are granted entrance into our noble klan, don't let the frat make you, you make the frat! I hope this helps your understanding out a little bit!

Remember

Kappa doesn't make men, Men Make Kappa.....

So your Christian beliefs should not be komprimised at all. You are (or should be) a man first.

All in all, the best advice I can give you is that becoming a Real Kappa Man is not easy, as it shouldn't be. You will have to earn it in more ways than one. Just remember that anything worth working for is worth it in the end.

Any fraternity is only what you make of the experience. If you don't do work before you attempt to join, you probably won't if you are fortunate enough to become a member.
