I am blessed
I was just reflecting on my long journey through college and how I have matured within the last three years. I am very pleased with myself, but I feel that there is always room for growing and improvement and that comes from experience, interacting with others and making mistakes. I thank my parents for giving me the opportunity to grow and to find my own self and for giving me guidance from the "old school." I know that I am blessed to have parents who care and made sacrifices for me. I am proud to say that I am the first lady to graduate from college in my family. I wish my grandparents were here to see me, they had to quit school in order to help their families. My grandmother didn't go past the 8th grade and my grandfather didn't go past the 6th grade. So I dedicate my degree to them and all of my ancestors who did not get the chance to accomplish their dreams. They worked hard so that I may have the chance to succeed. Did you know that only 22% of Americans graduate from college? We are part of a new "generation" so to speak. Just something to think about.
