Unhappy Children w/Brain Aneurysms

Anyone know much about this condition in children? I've searched numerous website and I can't find info on this specifically for children.

If you're wondering, my nephew Zach (well, actually my boyfriend's nephew, but he's going to be one of these days anyway) is currently at the Children's Hospital in Columbus Ohio. He is only 4 years old and had an aneurysm in his brain thursday morning. Basically, he was vomiting the night before and his mom couldn't wake him up the next morning. He was rushed to the hospital and then was lifted to Columbus. He will be placed in a chemically-induced coma tomorrow. My boyfriend and I will be leaving tomorrow morning in time to see him before he goes under. Sorry I just kinda unloaded this, but, this is a really stressful time.

I'm hoping some of you can shed some light on this for me.

-Kayla

ps: For those of you that do pray, please say a little one for Zachy

While I have no information on brain aneurysms, I do offer my prayers and words of encouragement for your family.

I wish I could help shed some light, but I don't have the information. A few years back a little girl I baby sat for died from one. I babysat her from birth and when she was about 2 she had started to develope epilepsy. Let's see...she was about 5 or maybe 6 when they went in and did surgery on her brain. Unfortunately she was already a little slower at learning to begin with and this surgery pushed her back to the competency of a 3 year old.

Tina passed away when she was 7. Her mother, my 5th grade school teacher, has since thrown herself into helping others find out how to prevent this sort of thing. If I find out anything from her I will be sure to pass it along.

In the mean time my prayers go out to you and his family!

Heya guys

Thanks, I showed my boyfriend this and it made him smile, so it was worth it.

Yesterday was hard, I couldn't fathom the feeling that zachie's parent's are going through. Dusty and I went back to his room and all you can see under all the tubes and wires is this cute little boy. The lighter moment of the day was right before we went in, his dad told me that me especially could not say a thing while we're even near his room. Zachie would have become too excited to know that his "girlfriend" was there. I just wanted to touch him so much

His ICP (internal cranial pressure) was lowering throughout the day (just so you know, 10 is healthy, his was 70). However, after we left the hospital we recieved a call from his grandpa saying that his ICP shot through the roof and in 15 minutes he was going to go through a 2 hour surgery. *sigh*

Just received a call from his uncle The surgery went VERY well and there's even a chance that they are going to let Zachie wake up here in a couple of days. Man, I've gotta bust my butt to Toys R' Us.

Bad news..the medical bill is reaching up to $25,000, and it has only been 5 days and he'll be in for almost a month

Good thing..the TKE's are (hopefully) holding a Smash for Zach. Basically we're letting ppl pay them to bash in a car, decent fundraiser

Kayla, my father-in-law survived a brain aneurysm 6 years ago. I know a little about them after that experience, but have never heard of a child experiencing one before now. Will keep ending lots of positive thoughts northeast towards Zach!!

Hugs,
Christin

Christin,
Well, my father had an aneurysm in his leg my soph year, so I thought I'd be ready to see this when I first was told of Zach

It is a VERY rare condition for children, mostly because nothing will "trigger" it until they are much older. See, the causes of them are mostly related to unhealthy diet, smoking, etc, so I don't know if Zachie was sneaking in some smokes before bedtime or what!

TKE209 and I will be (hopefully) going up to Children's Wednesday to see him wake up, ohhhhhhh I can't wait!!
