I would like to get involved again...

As an undergrad, Alpha Phi Omega was a major part of my life. I held several offices and worked on many committees. I worked hard to help our chapter survive when things were going down hill. I am about to begin my third year in grad school, and I am wondering how I can give support to my fraternity. As far as I know, my chapter has no alumni program. Do you think I could volunteer to put together some kind of alum newsletter? Who would have the kind of information I would need to get something like that started?

Any help would be great.

Erica

Check with the Section Staff. A lot of Sections have newsletters, and you might even be able to hold a position on the Section Staff. You might want to also consider subscribing to the APO listserve.

Thanks for the feedback. I've spent the morning doing some research. I now have the name and contact info for the Section Chair of the chapter where I pledged. I also found the name and e-mail address of the current chapter president, the faculty advisor, and the national alumni director. I'm presently living far from "home," but my husband and I are hoping to move back there in the next year. I hope I can become actively involved then. For now, I am going to contact my chapter, and I have signed up for the APO listserv. I am really looking forward to being in touch with more brothers. I'm so excited! I am currently a graduate student with the goal of being a professor in the future. I would love to be involved with the actives and possibly advise a chapter some day. My experience with APO was wonderful, and I don't want to leave that all behind now that I am an alum.

Yay! Also, maybe consider going to some of the conventions (sectionals/regionals, etc.) It's a great opportunity to network with chapters and alums.

Good luck on your quest!

Be sure to check out the national website for the National Alumni Director's contact info. Alumni have many ways they can be involved.

Yes, the Nat'l website was very helpful. It made me very excited about the possibility of working with college chapters again. Thanks!
