Question...People w/more than one set of Greek Letters

I just had a question...I have seen GC members with more than one set of Greek letters and cross over dates. The only thing I could think of is that they are honor societies, but I'm not sure. I know that many GLO's have it so that if you are already in a GLO they won't pledge you. So if anyone cares to answer I would appreciate it.
