Cousins graduating high school this year

I have at least two cousins graduating from high school this year. How should I promote GLOs without being too pushy into getting them to go through formal recruitment/rush? One is a guy and one is a girl. The guy will probably either go to U of Toronto or Western and I'm not too sure where the girl is going (probably somewhere in the US, maybe UPenn). The guy was born and raised in Toronto, while the girl is from Hong Kong. I do realize that it would be more difficult to get the girl to go through FR, especially in an NPC. Thanks!!!

I would talk about your college experience and what awesome things you did, including being Greek. As to the NPC... you mentioned that she was born in Hong Kong... how long did she live there? I would not focus on how NPC is different or the history of the different Panhel vs Pan-hel. I would just talk about greek life in general... how grades are better, how a glo makes a big campus smaller, and how many friends you can make. You could also talk about just going through recruitment and not feeling forced to join...

hope this helps!

Thanks Gtowngirl!! You asked me about one of my cousins, the girl. W was actually born here in Canada, but she and her family moved back to Hong Kong just several months after she was born. Her English is perfectly fine though, but she may not feel comfortable hanging out with people who speak English all the time (which is why an NPC, or even a historically Asian sorority may be an issue).

I went to the same school as one of my cousins had graduated from and she was Greek when she was there. Unfortunatly we did not go to school at the same time. I knew when I decided to go there that she had been Greek but I did not know which sorority and she did jot really tell me too much about it, except that she had a ton of fun. When recruitment came around I decided to go Greek, but it was for my reasons not my cousins because she told me afterwards that she resisted telling me too much about it because she wanted me to make my own decisions and figure out for me. It turns out that I did not pick the same sorority that she did but I am having just as much fun.
