Chapter Houses

A few of my sisters and I were discussing roadtripping around the country visiting cool Sigma Kappa chapter houses! I know there is a thread with pictures of a houses, but it's been a few years back and lots of pictures don't work anymore :-(

Sooo....post a picture of your chapter house, or houses you really like!

I'll get things started....I love my chapter house! (Beta Sigma, Purdue University)

Alpha Theta- University of Louisville

Here's a link to the University of Louisville's website with pictures of the house. We just finished a massive renovation of the house last winter, thanks to amazing support from NHC and local alumnae. I was on the HC that did the project, and we are so excited about the results.

http://www.uoflsigmakappa.com/housetour.html

We believe the house dates to the turn of the century, so it was important to us to keep some of that charm while updating the interior in a sophisticated way. The chapter has over 100 women, but the house can only sleep 8 (zoning laws). Two other sororites have similar houses on Greek Row, and the other three NPC sororities have a floor in the newly built "Community Park" residence hall.

The beautiful wrought iron railings you see were commissioned for us by a special alumna. We named the new formal room (first horizontal picture) in her honor.

The interior looks fantastic! I'll have to show Beta Zeta's house corp those pictures and suggest redecorating. Our house looks kind of dated. I really like the use of plums, maroons, and browns and the clean lines. I love it!

Thanks ladies!

Actually, the interior designer that we hired to do the project is such a wonderful lady that we alumna intiated her. As a Sigma Kappa now, she has been working with NHC to put together decorating "blue prints," if you will, to share with chapters around the country. If any of your HC members will be attending COTS, she is going to do a presentation for all the HC members on the project, color schemes, etc. But, if you want info before then, you can PM me and I can send you her contact info. She really is amazing (and now she's a sister!)

I'm not on HC, but I will probably go to COTS. I wonder if I can sneak my way in to that presentation or if I have to beg someone from HC to go to COTS.

Sorry to crash... but I just wanted to let yall know that I've just finished a website with pictures of various Sigma Kappa houses. You can see it at http://sigmakappahouses.blogspot.com.

I'm working on pictures for houses of all the different panhellenic sororities- you can see all of the ones I have completed at the main page, http://sororityhousesindex.blogspot.com. Enjoy

Thank you so much! I was actually at VT and JMU a month ago and I took pics of the SK houses there, but I am in them, so they're not goo to post. I wish I knew you'd need some otherwise I would have taken plain ones.

If you don't want your face to be seen in the pictures, you can just "cover" it with a little black strip or something. Or if you're worried about people being "in the way", it's fine! Some commenters have told me that they really like seeing people in the pictures rather than just the building.

A funny sidenote- a representative from Sigma Kappa Nationals contacted me saying that they had been trying to put together pictures of their housing. I'm sure many of the pictures are not a high enough resolution for printing, but the representative told me that they might link to my Sigma Kappa houses page from their Facebook page or their soon-to-come Twitter account.
