Question What is a polite way to say no?

I am still on my quest to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. The chapter that at my school is still suspended. From what I have been told there is no hope for the fall. My problem is that their is a member of Delta Sigma Theta innn my class and she is really nice she represents her org well. She has invited me to alot of events this pass school year she has even given me her number. Informing me that there will be a line in sept/00.I have told her that I am not intrested. She doesn't even know what org I am intrested in she just knows its not her's.(I was told to be discret) How can I tell her that I am not intrested in her org. She is so nice and helpfull. There was a spring line of DSt at my school.

Thumbs up

Determined one, I think you should first, thank your classmate for keeping you abreast of all activities going on with DST. Then let her know that you are not interested. Does she know you are interested in AKA? Had you ever given the vibe that you were interested in DST? Regardless, it should not be a problem. Your classmate should understand and go on her way.
My sister had this issue when she was in college. Our cousin was president of the DST chapter and her sister was a DST member, too and the AKA chapter was on suspension. Our cousin asked my sister to join DST. My sister told her "no thanks" because AKA was in her heart and that was the route she had chosen, whenever the time came...SO...
Stay Determined!

Determined One, I agree with my soror. You should be gracious and thank your classmate for keeping you up to date on DST activities. However, if DST is not in your heart you should be honest and let her know. You don't have to tell her you are interested in AKA, but don't lead her to believe that you are interested in DST. Maybe you have given her that impression somehow. She sounds like a great person and I'm sure she would understand. Take care and good luck.

Talking

Thanx for all of the responses. The girl in my class doesn't know that I am intrested in Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. She really tried to find out what org I was intrested in I never told because I know the greek world is very small. Thanx alot I will talk to her. I never gave her signs that I wanted to be a member of DST. I will keep everyone posted.
