Book List

So there are a lot of us recent graduates out here and we're starting a new portion of our lives and I was wondering... what books are a must have for an at home library.
I thought of this as I was writting out Thank notes and thought that I could really use a good modern-day etiquette book, something along the lines of Emily Post but not necessarily that author. I know that I need to find a copy of "Southern Primer", what else... is there a cook book that you couldn't live without or a how to clean everything guide... tell me! I don't want to waste money on books that aren't useful or user friendly.

The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook is a must-have. It very thoroughly covers all of the basics and then some, plus it's easy to use.

A book that should be on every woman's "must read" list is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

It is the best book for those wanting to get pregnant--AND those wanting to avoid pregnancy. It covers everything you need to know, but probably were never told, about you body!!

**probably not a coffee table book, but it is a good book to have in the nightstand drawer**

No, really, lol!! Just so happens that a classmate of mine (we've known each other since K-garden) wrote this book! We had our reunion last weekend and I knew her by her smile!

Right before I graduated last year my mom bought me a book called Three Black Skirts... All you Need to Survive by Anna Johnson. It's kind of like a survival guide for when you are just starting out with her thoughts on health, dating, money, career, etc. I'm starting to read this book again right now since within the past few months I've moved out and gotten a job and need all the help I can get!

A Bible. (The one I'm currently using is Access Bible, published by Oxford University Press. It's NRSV and has excellent commentary.)

Home Comforts, by Cheryl Mendelson. Subtitle is The Art and Science of Keeping House. The best guide to not only how to, but also why and how all the chemicals work, etc. This is *excellent.* I'd give it as a graduation gift or a wedding gift.

My source cookbook is The Joy of Cooking, the blue one (1970? edition), which I got at a library book sale for .50. I also have the New Joy, but I like the blue one.
