5 year college students and "start all overs" represent

Aren't you 4th year students happy that you have one more year of this madness?

At my school this is a trend, 5 and even 6 year students are common. The average student takes 12 hrs per semester. I know someone who has been there since 1996 and is still an undergrad, she only take 3-9 hours per semester.

There is also a population who have majored in one thing and then they got to their junior or senior year and decided that they wanted to change their major.

I changed from psychology to international trade to corporate communication. Started Fall of '97, graduate May, 2003. So 5 1/2 years.

This week I will finish my 4th year of college. FREAKING SCARY! Thing is... I won't graduate till prolly my 6th year... and I DON'T wana graduate!

If I hadn't transferred schools, I probably would have graduated in the flat 4 years... but transferring and then changing my major as a second semester junior will put me back a little bit, but I'm kind of glad. This school is just starting to grow on me, and I don't really mind the extra time that will be spent here

Well I started college in the fall of 98, and will graduate May 2004 so about 5 1/2 years. I have transferred schools and changed majors twice, otherwise I probably would have finished by now.

My 3rd yr, probably gonna take me 5 as well. You basically cannot have a social life here if you wanna finish in 4 yrs

I changed my major the beginning of my 2cnd semester Junior year. And I still graduated within 4 years. The biggest reason was probably because I had completed ALL of my university required courses within my 1st 2 years. And because I knew I couldn't afford that 5th year!

I'm the freak who finished in 3 years (because of college credits taken in high school and because my parents pushed me to finish in 3). It's kinda weird now, because this should be my graduating year... instead I've been out in the real world for almost a year now and at 21 I am the youngest person at the company I work for (although there are a lot of 22-25 year-olds here.)

I'm the same way..I could have finished up in under three years because of the college credits I had. I ended up adding another major though, but I'll still graduate in 4 years.

I'm another member of the 5 year crew! I transferred from Duquesne to Bethany. Because hardly any credits transferred, I was at Bethany for 4 years, no sweat off my back!

At Bethany, most students graduate in 4 years. However, I dated a guy my freshman year, and he was a junior. When I graduated 4 years later, yep, he still had junior standing. And he took no time off. Don't ask me how! LOL

Woohoo!!! I'm in 4th year right now and I have at least 1 more year to go. I took this semester off too.
I've also changed my major three times...ya, my parents weren't too impressed. But this is also seems to be a trend at my school.

Does a 5-year bachelor's/master's degree program count?

Most people at my school seem to finish up in 4 or 4-1/2 years, unless they change majors late, double major, or go for the 5-year program.

Grad school is another story. I know a guy who took 10 years to finish his doctorate... that's not counting the time it took him to earn his master's.

The education program at EMU is usually a five year program.
I started in Fall '98 and will be graduating at the end of the month.

I transfered schools after my first year and then changed majors from Animal Science to Radio & Television half way through. Five years right there, and now I'm going back to get my elementary education certificate. Here comes another two years.

Screw the five years. I loved UH-Manoa so much that I decided to stay longer.

Like ktsnake I started in the Fall of 97 and will finally be graduating on May 18th.

It's about f'n time, that's all I have to say.
