To let her in or not
Here is my sororitys deal:
Right now we are going through informal recruitment. We have a girl coming who also went to formal recruitment in fall, but didn't go through it all. During formal rush she made some comments about how she just really wanted to be in one of the other sororities on campus and some other stuff that was not very good. She came back saying that during that time she was going through a lot of stuff, and now says that she has changed due somewhat to the fact that our memebers were nice to her even though she wasn't great during rush.
So we are faced with the question of voting her in or not, I am wondering what others would do in this situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does the chapter like her? Do you feel she will contribute and be a good member? It sounds like although she didn't go in with an open mind that she's rethought things. Keep in mind how nerve wracking formal rush is. Is there anyone among all of us that never said, "Did I really say/do/trip over/trip up/wear THAT???" If she is genuinely interested in your chapter, and ya'll are genuinely interested in her, then vote her in. The advice to PNM's is always "Follow your heart" - shouldn't that apply here as well?

This is a difficult decison. You have to decide whether or not she is being genuine....and that's a tough call to make! She may very well have realized her errors during formal recruitment and wants to make amends....or she could just want any group now.
The only way to know if it is the latter is if you know how many other groups she is visiting for informal...
Is there any way you could put her off a bit? like after informal invite her to another COB event...if she sticks with ya then she must be serious.
She at least has admitted to behaving improperly during formal so that is a good sign....I'd say give her a chance.
sorry i'm not the best advice-giver (i'm more of a listener)

My baby sister is an advisor of a chapter that struggles sometimes with numbers, NOT to say in the least you are struggling, but their rule of thumb may help you.
You can let in a "not so great girl/questionable girl" ONLY if you have three stellar girls to balance her out.
Maybe that will help?

LOL, yea, if she's fun and pretty it BALANCES everything out!
I can't even believe some people....
wait, RICH, don't forget RICH. If she is fun pretty and rich maybe you should let her in!
(note severe sarcasm)
On a more serious note. You know, people do go through hard times and when they do, they often tend to lash out and say or do things they do not mean or that they will regret. We are only human and we make mistakes (often). But you have to try to figure out if she is really being genuine like someone else stated, or if it's a front. That is a very hard thing to do, but can be also very easy at the same time. Question her motives - that's they key.

You all have to vote right? Let the vote win like it does in parlimentary procedure. Bid or no bid. Then move on, either way.

Well, if this is cob, why don't you just invite her to more events and try and get to know her better- if she makes it a point to try and go the events and try to meet and get to know all the sisters better, then maybe she is more sincere.
i have met girls and have known girls in the past that say one thing about a glo- and then go through rush- end up without a bid from the glo they really wanted- and end up going through informal and being pleasantly surprised to find that there were other glos out there that they liked just as much.
just keep your mind open, just like we tell the pnm's to do so.

No, we did not extend her a bid this semester, but we decided that if she really wants to be in the sorority she can come again next semester and we would see that this is something that she would really want. So we shall wait and see if it was actually something that she wants.
