favorite directors?
There are some directors I know are good and some I notice because they're up and coming or did at least one movie that I am crazy about. These are the ones whose movie I would see no matter what, just because I trust the kind of work they put out. I used to feel that way about Cameron Crowe... but then he released Vanilla Sky.
Anyway, right now I"m all hyped up on Antoine Fuqua. He's the director of Training Day and he's also directing Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis and Monica Bellucci. I like that it's taking place in Africa and I'm really looking forward to seeing Monica in her first major American film.
Edited because I goofed on the movie name. Fuqua is directing Tears of the Sun and Basic is being directed another favorite of mine, John McTiernan. He's done Predator, Thomas Crown Affair and Die Hard. So he's definitely got the experience for a strong action film.

Zhang Yimou. He's from China, and I've loved almost all of his movies that I have seen. "Not One Less" was the most recent one I saw, and it was fantastic.
