Recruitment the second time around
I know everyone likes a good recruitment story, so I thought I'd add mine. I went through recruitment last fall at UW-Madison, but decided not to sign anything. So, I'm going through it this semester in hopes that I'll find the sorority that I will love! The 6 (out of 11 total) sororities doing informal spring recruitment are: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Sigma Delta Tau.
Any advice on how to make the second time around more successful? There is one sorority in particular that I know already that I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to join, but I'm keeping an open mind. Tomorrow we see the 6 houses, other events are by invite, and then next Wednesday (February 5) is bid day! I'll keep this updated

All of those GLO's are outstanding...just remember to smile, relax, and ask questions if you have them...you want them to remember who you were, what they talked about with you, if you were easy to talk to, if you were interesting to talk to...the more sisters you meet the better! And have fun!! That's the most important thing...and tell up how it goes!

One thing that I found that made going through recruitment again a better experience wasn't really what happened in the houses, but more of with the other girls going through. I did not have a good time my 1st time, so I was determined to take everything as it was and get to know some awesome girls- I was determined to just have a good time, and I did- I met a lot of really awesome girls, and I'm sure it showed through at the houses that we were all having a good time

Tonight we visited the 6 sororities and so far I've heard from 5 of them! I don't know that I'll hear from the sixth because they were the one I decided not to join in the fall...don't know if they'll remember that one or not. Anyway, I'm planning on going back to at least three of the sororities. One of them I liked last fall, but I really got to know the girls better and another one I absolutely loved last time so I'm hoping for the best, either way! Wish me luck! Oh, I'm not sure if posting the names of the sororities is a good idea or not, so if u want to know, send me a message.

I wish you the best of luck. Some of my best friends became zeta's after accepting a bid from another sorority the prior year, or dropping out of rush.

Tonight I went to visit...we'll say, house 1 and house 2. I really liked house 1; I didn't get to know them at all during fall recruitment, plus i know girls in there. I think one i met the other night really likes me too because i talked to her a lot. They're really genuine girls and I'm going back to another event of theirs on Saturday.
House 2 was the one i loved from the fall and I still really like it! They're such a great, diverse group of girls and they're all really friendly! I met more girls tonight and had some great conversations...I'm going to their event on Saturday also.
There's one more house I'm interested in, but I don't think it's really for me. Maybe I'm asking for it, only showing interest in 2 of 6 houses, but I love them both and I think I have a decent chance with either of them. What do u guys think? Wish me luck!

uwgirl, do you know how many spaces houses 1 and 2 have, or is that information kept from rushees? And are the COB events you're attending crowded with PNMs? If it looks like the houses are in a position to bid all the girls they want, I'd be less nervous about narrowing down the list.
with crossed fingers for you, Ivy

The girl from panhel who took us around to the houses on the first night that said on average, each house can take about 20...some more, some less. They didn't tell us exact numbers though. I want to say maybe 20-30 visited each of the houses I went to, I don't know. I know in house one I know a bunch of ppl and I'm getting to know more. I'm also meeting a lot in house 2, and I plan on meeting more. I think it's going well in both of the houses, so I have my fingers crossed and I'm going to both of their events on Saturday and I think that's it 'til bid day on Wednesday!
