HI There,
First and foremost would be the wooden Greek Letter Tiki my father makes for my sisters to wear. Not sure if Tikis are only a west coast thing or what so if you're not sure what a Tiki is then PM me and I can send you a picture of it
Next of course would be the tshirts, sweatshirts etc.
Picture frame to put a fabulous picture of all my new sisters and I in it.
License Plate Frame for Car
Stickers to put all over everything I own
Checkbook cover to always show off my Greek affiliation whenever I'm out shopping.
For my chapter Lavaliers and Chapter Letters sweatshirts are gifts the Sapphire Sisters give to the newly initiated sister so our new members probably wouldn't buy them.
Carolyn

I can tell you what I'd NEVER buy... underwear, sneakers or shoes (especially with the name of the organization on the sole), and those sweatpants/shorts that have your letters on your rear.
Maybe it's just my "Baby Phi" naivete, but I can't see wanting to sit or step on your organization's name.

Loads of letter shirts!
Also, everyone has tote bags with our letters on them as well as lavaliers.

- Definitely, block letter shirts and sweatshirts
- As many party/event/rush shirts as you can get your hands on
- A keychain
- If I'd had a car at the time, I'd have gotten a bumper sticker.
Sistermadly, I'm with you on the "letters on the butt" thing - I never quite got the point...
I don't own a lavalier... it wasn't a big thing at my school. Women often wore fraternity lavaliers from their boyfriends, but rarely lavaliers with their own letters.

I have to echo the sentiments of sistermadly and aephi alum. Letters on the butt never made sense to me. And I have to say, that goes for the tissues with your GLO name on them. I just don't get it

1) lavilere
2) "block" letters -- they look like a baby's alphabet blocks, but they only have one side to them. At craft stores.
3) hard letters (you know, actual "letters," not a rush shirt, etc.)
4) car sticker

1) A keychain/ID holder (one of the leather ones)
2) A License plate frame
3) Charles river jackets with letters stitched on the front.
I would say lavaliers, but most of the houses here give them as new member gifts. The first set of "real" letters is usually a big/little thing, too.

Tikis
I've gotten a couple PMs about the Tiki's (sorry I haven't responded yet I'm still learning how to use my digital camera so I can upload a picture to send). Anyway, it looks like Tikis may be a Los Angeles thing, it could even be a thing that the NALFO Greeks on my campus do and we liked them so much we decided to do the same thing.
Anyway, what the tikis are that my dad makes are wooden letters (all still connected) hung vertically from a thin ribbon (usually one of the Organizations colors) around the neck. the three letters are hung vertically about 3 to 4 inches long by about 1 inch wide. The other Greeks on campus have theirs made out of some type of plastic in the groups colors. My dad makes his out of red oak and just sprays them with a clear coat to seal it. So far my dad has made them for Phi Sigma Sigma, Sigma Pis, and is now making one for a friends daughter who is ZTA. He's also made a couple for members of our local LSBA chapter. Dad can pretty much do any group but we haven't figured out how to make the Xi letter yet.
As soon as I can get the picture taken I'll try to figure out how to upload a picture here of it so everyone can see what they're like.
Carolyn
p.s. I have no idea why they're called tikis but that is what they're called

Tikis
Do you mean these? I've seen these among NPHC and NALFO organizations, mostly, but I've never heard them called Tikis.

That is exactly what I was talking about except my dads are wood. I think the red oak wood makes it a little more subtle then the bright acrylic ones although there are days we want the acrylic one. The tikis are great way to show your pride for your organization, even the non-greeks on our campus are starting to order them from my father. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I can get the picture to post on here.
Thanks for finding a picture of what I was trying to describe.

Tikis aren't a "Los Angeles thing". These items are very specific to NPHC and MCGLO groups. Even though phisigduchesscv's university, Cal State U Dominguez Hills, has a very diverse campus, I am still surprised to hear that her NPC sorority wears them. Cal State U Long Beach (just 15mins down the freeway from CSUDH) is very diverse as well - though, if I tried wearing a tiki on campus, I'd probably get bizarre looks.
Phisig...I gather it's just a CSUDH thing you've got going there.
