Whitney Houston's Father Dies
Whitney Houston's Father Dies at 82
By STEVE STRUNSKY
Associated Press Writer
John Houston, the father of singer Whitney Houston and a theatrical manager since the early days of rhythm and blues, died Sunday after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. He was 82.
Houston died at a New York hospital, family spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer said Monday. She said Houston's health had been deteriorating for several years.
Well before his daughter's rise to fame, Houston managed the career of her mother and his ex-wife, Cissy Houston. She sang with The Sweet Inspirations, a backing vocal group to artists including Aretha Franklin.
Relations between Houston and his daughter, who has acknowledged having drug problems, took an especially awkward turn recently when his company, John Houston Entertainment LLC, sued hers for $100 million.
The suit sought compensation for helping to get a marijuana charge against her dismissed and for getting her a new record contract.
Houston even made a public appeal to his daughter in an interview with the syndicated news magazine "Celebrity Justice" in December: "You get your act together, honey, and you pay me the money that you owe me."
Houston was born in Trenton on Sept. 13, 1920, and was living in Fort Lee when he died, Seltzer said. His theatrical management agency was based in Newark, the city where his daughter was born.
In addition to his daughter and wife, Peggy, Houston is survived by three sons.

In all sincerity, not very well. Especially if she had not talked to him before he died and at least made peace with her father.
Trust me I know, however, I still don't mess with drugs.
This is going to be a rough road for her; she needs a strong man in her life to help her cope and PRAYER.

I know.
I'm not trying to be funny, but I've seen where a relative or whatever had not "made peace," was on drugs, had been estranged from the family, etc. were the ones who were trying to "get in the casket" with the deceased. Then afterwards, their drug use increased. Let's hope this will not be the case for Whitney and her siblings.
Who is that STRONG mortal male figure going to be? Hopefully, this will be her wakeup call.

I highly doubt it will be Bobby. She might have to hit rock bottom. This will be her way of seeing who is her FRIEND and who is her friend. Her mama is about to have to regulate.

Sadly, not necessarily.
Whomever gains control of the company because of his passing, possibly his wife, can proceed with the case if she feels it is in the best interest of the company and the suit has merit.

I thikn John and Cissy Houston are divorced, but I think it will be his business partnet that may carry on with the lawsuit if it does proceed.

They are divorced. It says it in the article above.
Whitney discussed her stepmother in her radio interview.

Russ just reported the laswsuit still cometh from the business partner, however, Whitney and her brothers are most likely the benefactors of his estate so they could win back the money from the lawsuit. RICH FOLKS, I tell ya.

Also let us wish Bobby Brown a Happy 34th Birthday. This too was just announced on the radio.

BUT, if they are er uh, connoisseurs of the pipe etc. AND HE KNEW THIS... I don't think he'd be THAT dumb to have them as his benefactors, hopefully the benefactors would be the grandchildren with a RESPONSIBLE adult as the overseer (tutelage).

That is really sad. I hope that she snaps out of it now and realizes what is precious in life. Hopefully, they will detox themselves and be better role models for Bobbie Christina. I think that she might snap out of it now.Did you all hear about how she acted on a phone interview why Wendy Williams on New York's WBLS. She definitely wilded on by threatening to kick her a** ... As a superstar especially an African American superstar she could be doing a lot better for her image.

Whitney, Bobby Are No-Shows at Funeral
You may have seen Joanna Molloy's report in the New York Daily News that Whitney Houston skipped her dad's funeral. Well, she also missed the burial. And the lunch for her family that followed at the Fort Lee Hilton.
Houston and husband Bobby Brown did attend the wake the night before for John Houston, who died last week at the age of 82. Apparently the Browns did not use regular fashion etiquette for their appearance. According to sources, Bobby wore a white suit with a white turtleneck. When Whitney took off her long coat, she was sporting a white tank top.
"Everyone else was dressed appropriately," says my spy. Whitney, however, did keep her sunglasses on the whole time she was at the wake. Even though Whitney didn't make her father's own funeral, her staff did.
Her talent agent, Nicole David, even spoke at the service. All of the staff from Nippy Inc. were there, as well as Whitney's publicist, Nancy Seltzer.
So what happened?
"The cars went to Whitney's house in Mendham, so they were expecting to pick her up," my source reports. "But Whitney and Bobby partied all night, and they sent the cars away. Whitney is not a morning person. The service was set for 11 a.m."
None of this went over too well with Whitney's family, the rest of whom managed to make it. And don't believe the story that Whitney wanted to avoid the press. "The burial was private. No one would have seen her," my source says. "And there was a little press at the church, but not enough to cause trouble. She just didn't want to go. I think it's unforgivable."
