Angry More Pins on Ebay

Since joining this community, I became aware of people selling our pins online. I just found two more. One is a gold sister pin. It's item #751078537. The other one is a new member pin and it is item #751087838. Does anyone know if National monitors these kinds of websites?

Hello.

Yes the INTERnational Executive Board (let's not forget our Canadian sisters!) has recently asked someone to monitor the situation and provide reports back on various points of tracking.

The IEB however has not set up a fund or authorized purchase of items on behalf of the Fraternity.

I never understood why people who are not affiliated with any GLO (not only Alpha Phi) are selling pins online. How do they get it? It would bother me a little seeing that people who know nothing about Alpha Phi have something that means a lot to sisters everywhere.

the worst thing is....

the worst thing is you can never seem to recover them because a guy by the name tyoregon wins them everytime. The flip side is that his mother and his daughter are both Alpha Phi's so they keep it in the family and IEB knows of them. Still i like for once to win one to keep it within our sorority.

People acquire them in various ways. Some people buy them from estate sales, others inherit them, and some are general collectors who will buy things from estates in bulk and then sell them online. There are a lot of pin collectors around who actually buy them off of ebay too, even though they are not affiliated with GLO's.

Hi Laura...I have won a few pins from tyoregon and it was sweeeeet! Two of the jeweled pins I won I gave to a past and present President of Eta Delta as I felt they deserved them for various reasons, another I gave to a recent alum initiate friend of mine until she gets her own and still another I donated to our FD Foundation auction (it was dated 1931) and a collegiate won it - she was so excited to receive such a sweet thing as a 'vintage' pin. I also won another just recently, but will find a good Alpha Phi home for it...I have spent about $400 on these pins and feel such a sense of pride giving them back to sisters, not to mention a sense of 'conquest' to have won them!!! LOL I will continue to do this as $$$ and time allows! It's fun!

Great job & congratulations on beating TyOregon Joanne. He is hard to beat.

It was so sweet of you to donate the pins to the past and present presidents of your chapter. You are such a supportive alum!

Take care,

Laura

Wink Ebay pin

Hey, Eta Deltas are the best!!! You gals willl ALWAYS be near and dear to my heart!!!!!! Congrats on your rush year so far - I heard it was great! I look forward to seeing you ladies at Regionals up here in Portland.

Yes, it was nice to beat "that man" who wins pins on ebay. I have been lucky because he has openly admitted to raising bids 'just for fun' with no intention of buying the pins he bids on.

This pin will go to a sister at the right time and right moment. It is the least I can do - Alpha Phi has given me so much. I did wait until the last 30 seconds to bid though!

Take care all and have a happy new year!

I'm glad to see that sisters are getting the pins. That makes me feel a lot better about the whole thing.
