Another Christina Aguilera Thread

I was thinking about this the other day...Do you think Christina Aguilera would have been accepted if she had debuted looking and acting as she does now? Would her appearance and behavior matter as much if she hadn't seemed to do a complete 180? ...Or would she not have been accepted at all in the time of the "Teen Pop" frenzy?

Your thoughts?

Well I think she was like 16 when she came on the scene, and I don't think a 16-year-old acting and dressing the way she does now would have gone over very well. So I don't think she would have been as popular if she had started out with the trashy image she projects now.

On the Diary of Christina on MTV she said she hated the "girly-girl" teenybobber image she had. So I guess she was always like this we just didnt' see it. I dont' know, I think it makes her look like she has problems. Did anyone read the Rolling Stone article she did. Other than her 15 or 13 piercings I was shocked that she admitted to so much. It just surprised me. I don't think she could have pulled off the x-tina image when she first came out. She has an amazing voice but the teeny bobber age has grown up now, so I guess so has she.

I'm a Britney girl so I'm a little biased.

I saw her being interviewed and noticed that she has a slight Spanish accent that she didn't have when I've heard her speak before. Wonder how that came about? Sort of like Madonna's British accent despite the fact she was born and raised in Detroit.

Christina should have nothing but a Pittsburgh accent! Walking around saying "yinz" "n'at" "warsh" etc.

How can she expect anyone to see the real her or whatever she's always talking about if she's always trying to be someone else?

How many people come out of Pittsburgh looking and acting like that?

But for the most part I agree with you. North Allegheny is one of the preppier high schools in Pittsburgh

Yes, it was goth, but it was friendly goth - as I read one of the regulars saying, it's pretty hard to say you are the descendant of Dracula when your grandma is from the South Side. (It is open again, by the way, or was for a while)

I think if she hadn't been pushed to be Brittany #2, she wouldn't be as extreme as she is now.

I really try to not pass judgement, but....

her look is way to trashy! If she had debuted like that, I'm not so sure she would have made it...my brother said the other day; "She's okay to look at but I'd never bring her home to meet mom and dad!"

However, I think that she has an AMAZING talent! I only wish I could sing like that!

I was folding clothes and my son walked in and we saw the DIRRTY video together...I was embarrassed. Musical porn comes to mind. The girl looked so filthy...physically filthy that I felt I needed to bathe after watching HER! Recently, I put in a Christmas CD of mixed artists. There she was singing "The Christmas Song". Thank GOODNESS it wasn't one of my favorite religious ones or I may have vomited!

It may not be the MOST sexual video ever made, but I think the title is appropriate. It's just down right "dirty" in EVERY sense of the word. So, I guess that means she accomplished her "artistic" goal.

I dunno, I do sorta feel sorry for her. I too watched Diary of... and was pretty shocked to see how intense the rivalry was. It was as if everything Christina hoped for, Brittany got first...Jive Record Contract, Music Video, More spotlights in MMC. I dunno! I think Christina has probably lost a part of herself having to grow up so fast (she lived in CA while her family lived elsewhere). She is probably trying to find out who she really is.

Now her new song (that slow one that's out) is my FAVORITE. I saw the video and it's a little over the top too, but it makes you think.

I like her new song too. It's called Beautiful. It really has some great lyrics and it's not like Dirrty. It makes me wonder what the rest of her album is like...though not enough to buy it.

She is trash and her new video sucks.

There was nothing beautiful about anyone in that video. They were all freaks. Maybe if she had models walking around flashing their tits, I might have liked it, but now everytime I hear it, I just see two guys tongue kissin...weak.

Okay your attitude stinks!! The whole point of the video was to not have that. Not all good videos need half nude models. Sorry don't mean to offend your tastes!

But speaking of half nude people, I"m surprised you don't like her.
