TKE Houses
Which TKE houses do you think look the best? I though I reconized the Delta Nu chapter name for some reason. I saw their new house on a issue of TKE Today and I think its one of the best TKE houses I ever seen. Here is what it looks like..

TKE Houses
Frater,
Thanks for the kind words on the Delta Nu TKE house! Lots of hard work still continues with alumni fundraising and furnishing it. (I'm on the alumni fundraising committee which is a sub committee of the Board of Trustees. )
We opened it in fall of 99. TKE was the first fraternity on the NWMissouri campus to build a fraternity house specifically for a fraternity. Until then all the houses on campus were "Residential conversions." Sig Ep built a new house and opened it at the same time just across the street. SPE was only chartered in 81, so they didn't have quite as many alumni to draw donations from. TKE was chartered in 1954 so having 1300 alumni sure did help with fundraising.
The DN house sleeps 32 men. There is a suite type set up with two rooms sharing a bathroom. It is quite an improvement from the DN TKE house I lived in during the 80's.
The chapter has really seen an improvement since opening the house and they really have made a strong effort with athletics and GPA. The chapter decided on its own to make it a dry house
which has really helped. The quality of members is quite high and their campus involvement is top notch.
Having been a part of this building project I find it interesting to check out other TKE houses as well as those houses from other fraternities which are cool. I've often thought that someone should put together a web site with only TKE house pictures on it. Similar to "The Golden Book" of TKE which was published in the 1950's. It contained pictures of all the current TKE houses at the time. Also another site with interesting and cool houses from all fraternities and sororities would be nice.
As an involved alum of Delta Nu all their successes make me proud. Thanks again for all
the kind comments.
YITB,
DNTKE alum

Wish my chapter had the alumni support Delta Nu does!! I try to give my chapter alot of support but not many older alums help out but some do. Most the alumni that help out now are from the 80's on. Maybe because my chapter is doing well now they might all come back and help. My chapter needs more renovations itself. We did get a new roof, air condition system, and refurbished deck a couple years ago. We have had the current house I think since the late 70's and it still looks like its from it in some areas of the house.lol But its a good ole house and it doesn't affect the brotherhood any.

Yes actually they were. They were picked because they had the nicest house on campus.

I don't know what chapter's house would be considered the best looking, but Gamma Zeta's will always be home, even if it is a tired old battle-axe!

The TKE house south of campus at NW MO was what I called home for 4 years. The new house was only a dream and didn't become a reality until 12 years after I graduated.
FYI, I was peeking in old files for our chapter at the TKE International HQ and there was a memo from 1952 that stated that TKE was fortunate to have landed this interest group. It went on to say that LXA was really on their heels and wanted to colonize with the same group. As near as I can tell, a main reason that they went TKE was because their Chapter advisor was an alumnus from TKE's Alpha Chapter in Bloomingtion IL. I don't know LXA never went on and colonized there with another group.
A neat book to check out is a manual about GLO's called "The Bairds Manual of College Fraternities." It gives all chapters that have ever been on a campus and when. Give it a look if you ever get the chance. Try a campus library. It is on the net, but you must buy the book.
Don't worry about me getting bent. Inter-Fraternalism is a great thing!! Have a good one!

Some of the old links do work anymore but I figured since CNN put up Drexel's TKE house in its article I figured I would post it here to. Pretty nice house.
Too bad the chapter is getting all the attention because of a few of its alums. I read an article somewhere that an idiot called for the chapter to be closed, but IHQ replied saying they would not close a chapter for something a few of its alums did. Wish I could find it again. If I do find it I will post it.

The Nu-Mu house is modest. Actually, it's really small. It was built in the 70's and it hasn't changed since. We manage with what we have. It's off campus and it's not a mansion like all the other ones. It's a one-story, 3 bedroom, one bathroom house. Everyone complains about it and praises it at the same time. The off campus perks are nice, and we work with what we have. Hopefully though we'll be adding another room onto the house in the next year or two. We really need one, the house is really old, ha ha. We got leaks out the wazoo, some of the lights don't work, our driveway is gravel and the city is doing construction road work right outside our house.
If someone saw it for the first time they might say it sucks. It's small, it leaks, and the yard looks liek crap (which is because of our crappy driveway that the school will not pave for us so it runs off into our yard), but we all love it. There should be pics of it somewhere on our site, http://www.usouthal.edu/tke/ but you'll have to look for 'em.

Here's our brand new 42-man house. We were living on the on-campus Fraternity Court, but considerable rent hikes over the past few years forced us to move elsewhere. So in 2000 we purchased a large plot of land just off campus. The new house is part of a 5 house Greek Court with Chi Omega, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Gamma Rho and Sigma Pi.
The ground was broken in the summer of 2001 and the house was completed in June of 2002. I was the first undergrad to move into the new house on July 1, 2002.
The house features 20 HUGE bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and 5 half bathrooms. We have an elevator, a dining room, a spacious chapter room, full-size party room with stage and bar and lighting system, an industrial kitchen, parking for 50+ and room in the backyard for a volleyball court that we are puting in this summer.
We are very lucky to have dedicated alumni....otherwise this $3.2 million house would still be in the planning stages.

I thought it looked like an elementary school at first.
But hey, it's big and sleeps lots of people. Besides, knowing boys, it's filled with cool electronics, etc.

yeah we get the "elementary school" or "office building" bulls#it all the time, but that just shows the intellegence of the speaker/writer.
being on top and looking down is a tough job sometimes.
