Brother/Sister Relationships

Now this is interesting....

I was reading on the Kappa Alpha Psi message board about organizations calling themselves brothers/sisters. We all know about Zeta Phi Beta Sigma being constitutionally bound. But I heard something rather interesting from an old school Alpha, who just happens to be our Dean of Student Life.

We were talking about sweethearts for each organization and he was sharing with me that sweethearts today are not what they originally started out to be. He said that sweethearts where members of sororities first, and then became sweethearts to assist the brother organizations and vice versa for the ladies. He emphasized they were members of a SORORITY first. In essence, sweethearts use to be sorority women willing to lend a helping hand to the fraternities.

So here is my question, how did we move from being helpful to having certain sweetheart organizations acting as sororities? Im not trying to start controversy, its just an honest question.

HolyGhost7,

Sorhor I'm leaving that one alone! All I know is that some folks have gotten their priorities mixed up! I also thought that sweetheart organizations really aren't recognized since the end of formal pledging which was in the fall of 1990.
