Weird Hair Color
What is your chapter's attitude toward weird hair color? I would love to dye my hair bleach blonde, fading to pink fading to black, but of course i'll read up on chapter policy first. Worst come to worst, it';ll be over Christmas break....

Isn't that considered discrimination?
My roomate goes extreme in his hair color. Right now it's green but sometimes he goes blue.

I don't think it should matter, but try not to have it this way for rush. I might get flamed for this. I believe everyone should be able to be an individual. But at rush, you don't want to be a distraction or stick out too much.

The two girls I know of who went through recruitment with extreme hair color on my campus were invited back to every house each round. However, I do not think it would usually be a good idea as an active or as a PNM to have crazy hair color during recruitment, of course.
I think your hair idea sounds like it could be really fun! Are you going to have a professional do it? It seems like that might be a difficult effect to attempt on your own!

I know some of my sisters have gone really random in hair colors...It is very much a personal choice and how they express themselves.

Do chapters really have official "policies" with respect to things like hair color? I would think that your sisters would love and support you no matter what color your hair, and I also think that hair and clothing choices are fun ways to express yourself -- especially when you're in school and you have the freedom to do it if you want. I would go so far as to say that I don't think it matters during rush either.

I don't know if I would want to be in a chapter that discriminated against me because of my hair color. Not saying that this is the case, but hey. If a chapter were to do it, it sounds pretty close-minded to me.

thanks you guys for such positive responses! I was kind of worried about it because I know how people can get an image of a sorority just by one member.... although I remember that when I saw sisters with unusual hair color, it made me want to join that sorority! I have a tendency to not want to piss anyone off.... I'm a peacekeeper thanks all!

One semester, we pledged a blonde and she showed up at initiation as a redhead. It was a nice shade of red, but still kind of a shock.
Talk to your sisters and get an idea of what they think about such a drastic change.

Well, look at this way.....you aren't posing for Playboy wearing your letters. So in the grand scheme of things, crazy colored hair is a-ok. Plus, what you want to do with your hair sounds cute!

SKchickie-
I just thought that I would tell you, I just finished helping out with Gamma Theta's (LB State) formal recruitment and one of our girls (Kinsey) had very blonde hair with maroon (!) chunks in it and it looked soooo awesome!!!
Also, one of my pledge sisters (Allegra) went through formal recruitment with me and had pink streaks in her hair, and every house loved her!!!
I say go for the color........it sounds very cool, kind of like a blonde, punky Kelly Osbourne!!!
Love in Sigma,
Lil Snakey K
