9-11

Does anyone remember what they were doing when they heard about the terrorist acts of 9/11?

I was in class. I felt kinda stupid, because I had been in classes all morning and had no idea what people where talking about. When a classmate told me, I couldn't believe it. It was like a scene from a movie, something that couldn't actually happen in reality.

I literally was just rolling out of bed, when I overheard an NPR reporter say "... where the World Trade Center used to be....". I couldn't believe my ears, so I turned on the TV and saw the replay of the second plane.

I'm on the west coast, so by the time I woke up at 7:30 AM, the attacks had only taken place about an hour ror so earlier.

I was watching the "Today show" after hurting myself at the gym, and I watched most things live, it was really like a bad dream

Unhappy

I was at work on the 20th floor....3 blocks East from The Trade Center. My office shook when both planes hit the towers. My coworker and I saw the papers flying outside of our windows and thought there was a ticket tape parade....but knew that none of the NY teams had one anything. After the second plane hit is when we left our building and about 15 minutes later is when the first building collapsed.

We all (the four of us that are in the office) made it to our various homes safely...THANK YOU GOD!!! Just remembering makes me tear up all the time.

An experience that I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET!!!

Fortunately to my Knowledge the Sorors and Frat that worked in the Towers and the immediate areas are all safe.

My mom woke me up and told me to turn on the TV. I saw the second plane hit but I think I was too sleepy to truly understand what was happening.

i'm such a bonehead

when i woke up that morning, i, like i do every morning, turned on my radio. i heard a bunch of talking on the radio so i changed the dial--same thing. so i decided i would get ready for class and listen to some jazz, but that radio station had talking. then it clicked that all the talking sounded the same, so if something important was going on, i preferred to see it than to hear it.

i turned on the t.v. and saw it, but it really didn't sink in so i turned off the t.v. and listened to a c.d.

i went outside my campus apartments to wait for the shuttle when this girl i didn't know came up to me and the other people and said that classes had been cancelled and that they were ringing the fire alarms on campus. i called her a liar because i was thinking "i practically stay on campus. if they rang the alarms across the street, they would ring these too," so i went on to class.

i had two classes on that day and the first one let out early because the teacher was upset about what happened and was upset that they hadn't closed campus. so, i was sitting around waiting for my second class and i called up one of my friends from back home who told me that she was going to donate blood. then it hit!! WE JUST GOT ATTACKED!! THEY THINK IT WAS BIN LADEN!! MY SECOND CLASS IS THE STUDY OF ISLAM!!! THERE ARE A LOT OF PAKISTANS, INDIANS, AFGHANISTANS IN THAT CLASS!!! I'M NOT GOING TO CLASS!!

so i walked my stupid and ignant tail on back to my place. stupid because it took so long for me to realize that our country had just been attacked and ignant because i was acting as if my classmates were the guilty ones!

that class ended up being cancelled but the chancellor of our university system came under heavy scrutiny for not closing the campuses. and, all that day, my eyes were glued to the news coverage

I was sleeping. My sister had a class that morning so she woke me up and told me when she got back. She heard it on the radio and I thought the DJs had been joking til I saw it on tv.

I was asleep at home in Cali. My mother called me talking about "plane and WTC." She knows my bf works in the WTC because I was out there three weeks before visiting him. I wasn't clear until I turned on the TV. I was in shock at the devestation, but not particularly concerned about him because I knew he worked in WTC #7, not the Towers. So I hung up and called his home in NJ: nothing, cell phone: got some other guy. Called his office: no incoming calls. So then I got nervous. Called his cousin, who conferenced his mother: she was stressed and hadn't heard from him. Then I started to freak out a bit.

To make a long story short, he called me safe and sound two hours later, and I had to call his family. It was the most "on the ground praying" two hours I've had. My heart and prayers truly go out to the families of the victims, because for a few moments, I didn't know what the status was of my loved one, and I have a taste of what they must be going through.

I was in a staff meeting when an administrative assistant interrupted the meeting to tell us a plane hit one of the WTC Towers. Because I work in the aviation industry anything involving a plane gets my attention. So we quickly went to my office and turned on the television. While the broadcaster was talking about the first plane, we watched the second plane hit. Then we realized it was NOT an accident.

Later the Pentagon tragedy and the frantic search to account for a co-worker's son and a Marine with whom I had served 12 years ago. Thankfully one was PTing (doing physical training outside the building) and the other works on the other side and was not harmed in any way.

The events of the day hit the city of Fort Myers and Lee County in a big way. Cee Cee Lyle (the flight attendant on Flight 93) was married to a Fort Myers Police Officer and three or four other people killing in the attacks had roots in the area.

The entire day was one of grief, anxiety, and anger.

I was in the public llibrary working on a project. One of the patrons had mentioned something about, "The world is coming to an end" "Terrorist has just killed thousands of people in New York City" "Someone has just bombed the Pentagon in Washington D.C." things of that nature. I didn't believe what I was hearing. I really didn't pay it any attention. I didn't think it was serious as it was until I got home and looked at television. It was really true. I felt so sorry for all the lives that were lost and all the families of the l ost ones. All we can dos is PRAY PRAY PRAY....

I was on my way to class and I turned my radio on to listen to the Doug Banks morning Show...They were discussing the first plane crash into the WTC ...Words can't describe how I felt at that moment...It is indeed a day that WE will always remember...
