Hello Members of Chi Omega

Hello to all of you. I am a college student in the state of Louisiana who is strongly considering rushing Chi Omega this upcoming fall. I heard that this board was the best way to meet present members and alum as well as learn more about this fraternity. I have done my research and participated in many Chi Omega functions so I hope I can keep up with most of you... I am here to primarily make connections and get to know about the fraternity from the members themselves instead of what I have read. Hello to all of you again.

Chi Omega has done so much for me- as an active and as an alum. I have made life long friends through my fraternity!!! Being Greek is awesome. It gets you involved in tons of activities and you get to meet so many people. Good luck with rush!!

I second everything that Amycat and XOAlum said...although I haven't experienced the alum aspect of it all yet. I don't know what college would have been like without my chapter and my sisters. They have helped me changed...and pretty much become who I am right now! Going greek was the best decision I ever made, and I'm sure that any chapter you decide to join will have a great impact on you!

Talking Much Luck to U

I reitterate what the previous ppl have said. The best sorority is the one that best fits you and I am sure that it will definitly happen to a person like you who seems very passionate and enthusiastic about rushing.

Going Greek was the Best decision I have ever made. It helped me to become more outgoing, confident and determined in what I want to do in the future after college.Leadership is very important in Chi Omega particularlly.I feel so proud to be Greek, let alone a Chi-O. Just people who ask me what sorority I am in and when you say Chi-O.They like "Ooh wow I know a Chi-O" OR "Those Chi-O girls have a great chapter at our school, just all around wonderful girls".You feel soo special and it makes you feel glad in knowing you made the right choice.

Just remember "Be yourself" and cherish the whole experience. It is something to remember.Once again Good Luck and Keep us updated.

Which University are you rushing at?

After reading much about rush on this board, I have learned that at a schools with big Sorority systems you should get letters of recommendation. If you want to send one to Chi O you need to find someone who is an alum to fill out an RIF form. Unfortunately, active sisters like me don't count. If they did, I'd be writing one for my sister!

As far as Chi O goes nationally? Wow. It's the largest sorority in the nation and you feel it. I have met people I never would have because I'm a Chi O, and it's really nice to have so many women out there ready to accept your friendship. I've had two sisters who have gotten job offers in part because they were Chi O's. So, I gotta say, it's pretty cool.

Good luck to you, and I hope you find a house that you jive with!

Hi! That's great you are considering rush!!!! It is the best decision I ever made in my life and I cannot be happier. Just make sure that you go through rush with an open-mind so that you will get the most out of it. I have friends who were convinced they were going to join a particular house before rush even started and then things happened that changed their decision/the outcome. Some of them feel they missed out on some of the experiences of rush because they had opinions already formed before hand. I on the other hand knew nothing of rush and very little of greek life so it was all new to me. All I can say is there is a house out there for everyone. If Chi Omega is the one for you then that is fabulous and we would be thrilled to have you as a sister. But, take the time to get to know each house because you want to be 100% sure of your decision. You dont want to regret your choice later on.
Going Greek has helped open me up to many new experiences and possibilities. Chi Omega is a truly wonderful organization and I love having an instant connection with thousands of other women around the world. My sisters mean the world to me and I am so excited to share the next three years together. Feel free to ask any questions any time. Hope I can be of some help.

Well

Thank you all so much for those nice comments. I appreciate your ability to be courteous yet honest and that is most important to me...hence the name...lol

I have learned from many people in Greek Organizations that when considering rush you should always go in with an open mind and that is what I shall do.
I am big on community service so I am seeking a chapter that likes to get involved. I'm not considering Greek for " temporary social" purposes but because I want to make connections that will last a lifetime. I'm a bit of an optimist so I'd like to think that whichever organization I settle into will be the one for me.

To answer your question XOMichelle I attend Centenary College of Louisiana, a very small Liberal Arts College. I am aware that when rushing having recommendations, even if not asked for, are a good thing.
I have contacted someone from my student life office and they havent said anything concerning it so I dont know if they are necessary. The only thing with recommendations and me is I dont know any Chi Omegas or many Greeks period besides the ones I have recently began speaking to online. I know people who just ask for a recommendation to anyone and I dont want to do that. If someone is going to speak on behalf of me or talk about whom I am I at least want them to KNOW whom I am.
I am excited about the Greek experience because I feel I have much to offer to any organzation I am chosen to.
Thank you all so again for your nice comments again....really appreciated...And I shall ask more so be prepared...lol....

Hi, I am sure you will find a wonderful sisterhood with anyone but I am so excited you are looking at Chi Omega.

They are sisters 4 Ever!

I just had a baby (yes, I'm an old Chi O)
but I received cards and gifts from sisters who I had not SEEN nor HEARD from in over 10 years... but they still remembered and loved me enough to send me a gift to congratulate me.

My friends forever- I'd do anything for any of them in a second and you know.... that is what a sister is all about.

Good luck!

Sue

Honest-

I can say I only know this because I have read these rush forums. Our school does not have recs, and don't think anyone has ever needed or gotten one! But, you can call your local NPC (I think you can find them online...) and ask about alumnae in the area. If you arrange an interview, they could then write you a letter.

But, if there aren't that many girls in sororities or that many girls rushing, you will be fine without one!

Are you going to be a freshman? if so, good luck with your frosh year! There's a great thread in teh CHit chat section about advice fro your freshman year... you should read it!
