That unforgettable alum....

I have written, on the TKE page, of several unforgettable TKEs,
men who over the years made a lasting impression on us. Why
don't some of you jot down some things about your alumni who
are dear to your Fraternity, share with us or on your own site The
moderators can make that choice. Some of these were "characters" others highly successful, but all loved their college
fraternity and gave their all. I will name a few I knew of,
and you folks can expand the list
SAE -- John O Mosley...owned hundreds of pairs of shoes
SigEp -- Uncle Billy Phillips, one of the early movers & shakers
Chi Psi --H Seger "Slip" Slifer...the name alone will attract
Pike -- Wilson B Heller, the College Survey Bureau
Sigma Nu -- Herman Wells, Indiana U Chancellor
TKE -- "Dutch" Reagan, President of the USA
Lambda Chi -- Cyril F. "Duke" Flad
Theta Chi -- George Washington Chapman
Beta Theta Pi -- the Bantas
Phi Beta Sigma -- I. L. Scruggs
KA Order -- John Edgar Hoover
Sigma Chi -- Milton Caniff
These are only a few of the well-known enthusiastic Greeks we
have known; share with us, do, keep memories alive. We all

One Delt story immediately comes to mind.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thomas Clark -- Was International President of the Fraternity while sitting on the Court and kept the jeweled president's badge in the safe at the Supreme Court Building to protect it.

George Banta was a Phi Delta Theta from their Wisconsin Beta Chapter - Lawrence University.

For Beta Theta Pi, I send you this:

*Sam Walton - Founder of WalMart
*Bill Bowerman - Co-Founder of Nike
*The Nordtrams (Father and all his sons)
*Kenneth Lay - of the infamous Enron scandal
*William Raymond Baird - Creater of the Bairds Manual and most thought of as the "All Greek God" in the greek world.

LXA, Harry S Truman, Robert Urich, and George Spasyck for years ran the LXA! Fred Suggs who Initiated me and is a pass Grand High Alph ( Pres ).

TKE Eric Conard who while I did not know it at the time helped me a hell of a lot!

While there have been many others that are not Famous , I thank them for being my Freind along with all of you!

How right you are and how wrong I was! Banta, the Phi Delt
family, Banta's Greek Exchange--that long running fraternity
magazine. I have confused Banta as a Beta before, but do offer
my apology...at he's least in the Miami Triad!
One correction, though, deserves another: William RAIMOND
Baird....of Baird's manual, later followed by good Sig Ep John Robson, author and Sig Ep chronlicler of some note.
I mention also that well-known educational philospher, a Delta
Tau Delta from Baker U, Dr. George Sylvester Counts...a very colorful man and brilliant contributor to educational thought...

Fpr Alpha Gamma Delta, I would have to say a Famous unforgettable alumna is Emily Helen Butterfield.
She has done so much for our fraternity from designing our Alpha Chapter's house and the buildings of the former AGD summer camp, designed and wrote the symbolism for the Armorial Bearings and for other greek organizations, creator of our Purpose, editor of our magzaine for 7 years, being recognized as the foremost authority on fraternity heraldry and being the first woman architect in the state of Michigan. She was truley an amazing woman and definately an unforgettable alum.
On a personal note and unforgettable alum from my chapter is Kristina Drake who was our New Member Advisor. Being the only senior in a very young recolonized house, Kristie made me feel more then welcomed. We would always go out for lunch and whenever she was at the house would always hang out with me. If i ever needed anything I knew I could count on her whether it was academic or personal. I went with her when she got her belly button pierced, she liked mine so much she decided to get hers (and held her hand

. unfortunately for her she got the cork/needle and I got the anesteics/shot) and she also took me out for my Senior Bells (Michigan Tradition, where sorority seniors in the last month of school go bar crawling and do shots). To this day we keep in contact and I always do something with her when I visit. I love her to death and she along with all our other advisor are unforgettable (and crazy) alums.

and it was Miss Emily, the Alpha Gam, who okayed the new TKE
coat of arms, she being a authority. And all of us remember her
as she is in our pledge manual as being the first non-Teke to
get close to our hearts....
