IS there a God?

I always enjoyed Philosophy and one of my favorit arguments was the exits of the "Christain God". Now I know alot of you have taking Philosophy so lets hear the arguments! Does A Christain God exits and how can you prove that. Or does the Christain God not exits and how can you prove that.

Exclamation My opinion

I KNOW that God exists. I know this because I have "blind faith." I believe that if one TRUELY believes in God then you do not question Him or His existence. You do not question your faith.

The nature of philosophy is to question things. No living soul KNOWS with absolute certainty that God exists...you yourself you have faith that he does, but that is a far cry from knowing with absolute certainty.

I personally believe that a God exists, but more than that I cannot say. I believe that we exist, but only so much as in the mind of our God...we're like an idea or a dream...I've often thought this, what if there is some parallel existence where there are children in school, and their project is to make a working habitat that can facilitate life, and that we're on on this schoolboys project....I know it's a far stretch, but that's what I always think about when I ponder the nature of existence. Not like he's watching over us even really, but that he and each of his classmates all made these little projects and we've just kind of grown on our own a bit....who knows how much time has passed in his realm, maybe half of a semester....but do you see what I am saying....all that matters is that we know nothing.

Cory

i know this post combines 2 of yours UD, but I don't really see how they could be considered completely seperately.

I half agree and half not. While I feel that belief in and reverence for God are the most important part of my life, I think that asking yourself questions about Him is important too. Without asking what you believe, people can easily be manipulated. Case in point: Oral Roberts, a televangelist charlatan who manipulated thousands of people into sending him money because if not, he would be 'called away to heaven'. Why did people send him money? Not because they really thought hed be sucked away, but that it made them a better Christian. 'Heaven doesnt await only those who congregate.' I dont think putting a little steel fish or DeColores bumper sticker on your car makes you closer to God. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I think we can all agree not to send Oral Roberts any more money. Or Pat Robertson, simply because my uncle installed his solid gold (armed guarded) water fixtures. I personally feel that if you let Jesus save you and try to live a good life, thats all you need to do.

LOL!

Do I believe that a CHRISTIAN God exists? I PERSONALLY do not. I believe that everyone has an individual spirituality. I do not believe in any organized religion, nor do I agree with the idea of organized religions at all. Organized religions are man-made entities that are based on literature that has been manipulated, translated, and ultimately MISUNDERSTOOD in some way. Case and point: study Greek religious art and statues. Most of the older Moses figures have horns. This is due to a misunderstanding in translation. While the original manuscript said something about light encompassing Moses' head, or a halo, the wording was translated into "horns" by the Greeks, and so they painted/sculpted.

What is to say that King James did not misunderstand, or even take "creative license" when interpreting the Bible?

That is why I do not believe in a Chrisitan God (too many hypocrisies in the history of that religion), nor do I believe in any other God of an organized religion (too many hypocrisies in EVERY religion!). I do find myself to be a spiritual person - I do believe in SOME God, I just haven't figured out who he or she is yet, lol.

Joe Pesci, according to George Carlin.

As to the question at hand, no, I do not believe that a god exists. I can't prove it any more than a believer can prove that a god does exist, so the exercise is futile. We all have our beliefs, and the important thing is to respect the beliefs of others.

Although I was raised Christian, and still hold these values very dear - the only thing I'm sure about is that many "Deus Ex Machina" thought processes about God seems ludicrous to me (roll out).

I do believe that it is obvious that there is a higher order to the world, and whether this is a result of God is up for debate. The fact that random processes, entropy and enthalpy, thermodynamic stability lead to so much of what is around us, if not everything around us, shows the simplistic beauty of how the world works. That is what I find to be the "higher order" of life - not some 'invisible man' above, but how the universe regulates itself. To me, it seems that this sort of thing is the 'soul' of life.

Now, could this system have been decided upon by a God-figure? Now THERE'S where I find the debate interesting, not whether Jesus was messiah or I'll be reincarnated. No one will know the answers to those questions until it's too late, it's simply blind faith - that's fine in and of itself, but does not make for good argument.

I do believe in GOD
I do believe that GOD sent His Son Jesus, to earth
I do believe that Jesus died on the cross in order to pay the debt for my sins
I do believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour and that thru believing in Him, my soul will go to heaven
I do believe that although I have sinned (and most likely will in the future) if I earnestly come to GOD and ask for forgiveness, He will
I do believe that GOD created this whole cosmic universe and everything in it
I do believe that it IS NOT meant for us to understand everything that GOD does....after all, as a child did you understand everything that your parents did for you?
