Do you remember the games
you played when recess was "canceled" due to inclimate weather?
We played:
Heads up 7-up
MASH
I watched the cartoon "Recess" this morning and the kids were mad because recess was canceled due to bad weather.
I wonder if the "new" elementary kids play these games when there isn't recess?

Man Heads Up 7up was the stuff. Remember "Telephone"?
Shoot in 3rd grade, we would still go out side and have the BEST snowball fights and stuff.
We did a lot of Hangman games or watched film strips.

At my school when recess was cancelled, the teachers would let us play in the gym.
We played
Red Light, Green Light
Red Rover
Mother May I
Leap Frog
If we couldn't go to the gym, we played with the after-school care board games.
Trouble
Sorry
Connect Four
Me and my girlfriends also played with a piece of string on our hands. We would take turns changing the shape and design of the string by pinching and twisting in different places. Y'all have to know what I am talking about. Did that game ever have a name because we just called it string?

My mother always made a "Jacob's Ladder" with her string.
Don't know if there is an official name.
Sometime's we'd go to the gym. During gym class when we couldn't go outside, we'd play:
"Here come's the Cat" Yessssssss! I loveded that! or
they would take out those BIIIIIIGGGGGGGGG parachutes and we'd play along with the record. LOL

LMAO!! This was the highlight of my elementary PE career... my favorites were when you ran inside and pulled the parachute down to make a tent, and when you put the little balls on top and shook it to make "popcorn".

Girrrrrlllllll! I LOVED that too!
It always seemed like there was a slow poke that couldn't get that right.
The gym teachers didn't place balls on top.

Ya'll named just about all of them. We could still "double dutch" in the gym.
When I was a TA in a Kindergarten Class, we had kids play Heads up, 7 up. They still have fun!!!!! and they still peek underneath their arms at the kids' shoes!!!!

Re: Do you remember the games
Its funny that this topic came up. My first-grader was just telling me over the weekend how much he loves to play 7-up!

And you asked to fast, lol. I think it's called Pixie or something like that, me and my sisters used to play. I LOVED that game!!! I loved to play with the string, lol, I used to be able to make the Farmer's Suspenders, Cup of Tea , and I can STILL make the Witch's Broom!
Indoors, we played Heads Up 7Up for the most part. Or we went to the gym. When we were little, they did let us go outside and play in the snow, I can't tell yall how fun that was!!! We had forts created by the snow plow, it was the bomb. Now, the school district that I'm in, the kids go outside in all types of weather, it has to be 32F (freezing, literally) or below for them to stay indoors. Or raining. I thought that was wild, but then again, I guess we went out in the snow, too.
