Back in the day, we had Panhel shirts. Every sorority member who attended the rush kickoff event was supposed to wear one (instead of letters). Sorority members and female independent living group members then encouraged all unaffiliated women to attend orientation and then booked it back to their chapters to change into their open house outfits. Rho chis and deaffiliated Panhel officers wore these shirts for the remainder of the first day of rush.
During my freshman year, the shirts listed out the names of the five sororities on campus, with stick figures of 5 women, and the words "Feel the Rush". Cute idea, but these were the fugliest shirts ever - neon pink and yellow on navy - the shirts looked like someone had vomited on them. I flat out refused to buy one, and ended up borrowing one from my sorority for my sophomore year. (For some reason the sorority had laid in a couple of extra shirts.)
During my sophomore year, my sorority threw a monkey wrench into everything by going national. So Panhel had to redo the shirts. (I've been known to joke that we went national just so we could get decent-looking Panhel shirts. ) During my junior year, they went with a "world travel" theme. The shirts had a front pocket design reading "United Sisters of _____" and a listing of all the sororities on the back. Navy shirts, white printing. That one, I bought. As far as I know, those shirts remained in use until Pi Phi colonized a few years ago.
(BTW, the shirts had to have the names of the sororities spelled out, as my school has chapters of Kappa Alpha Theta and Alpha Epsilon Phi, and these sororities do not allow anyone other than initiated sisters to wear their respective Greek letters. Just something to keep in mind.)
Hope this helps.

I think we are using "no matter the letter we are all greek together."
we do an all-panhellenic shirt already that all of the actives get in one color and the PNMs in another, but since our rho gammas disaffiliated beginning august 1st until the end of formal recruitment in january i want to provide them with another t-shirt as well as 2 options to purchase. since we will provide them with the all-panhellenic shirt, i wanted something that was unique to them for the second one we provide.

When I was an RC this year, we just had Panhellenic shirts that were cute. They had Panhellenic written down the front and the crest on the back with "High Quality Women. High Quality Letters" surrounding it. I love the shirt.

I recently saw a Rho Chi shirt with the slogan, "We gave up our letters to help you find yours." Thought that was cute!

Holy crap, they disaffiliate for an entire semester? How common is that as a whole?

I like "Initiating Excellence" myself. They use that at UBC and I like it.

Okay, so basically, you have women who can't wear their own letters for like five months? You want them to be able to show off their Greek pride, but these will also be a sort of consolation prize that they can't wear a good amount of their stuff. If you can afford it, can you do polos that just say "Go Greek" on the pocket or something?

I love our alumnae panhellenic shirts!
1st year - A girl looking pensive - with a signpost with all 26 NPC sororities and the slogan - "No matter which way you go, you can't go wrong"
2nd - and my favorite - The front says "Picture yourself a leader, a scholar, an athlete,a friend, a sister. " The back says "Picture yourself Greek" with film strips with all 26 groups - their letters and symbols. SO COOL -

3rd - "Be yourself. Be Greek" - http://metrogreek.com/view-designs/1637/
We always use metrogreek and have been VERY happy. They have cute designs, can customize them and have great customer service. I'll try to get pics of my shirts - right now they are in the wash! It was a long panhellenic weekend for me.

My school did deferred sorority recruitment for a few years. This was after my graduation, so I'm hazy on the exact details, but my understanding is this: Recruitment counselors were not to wear letters or badges in public during the fall semester. They were still required to attend chapter, could hold certain offices, and could attend formals and similar closed events. They were excluded from all rush workshops. Once the fall semester ended, they were fully deaffiliated until the end of recruitment.
I'm glad we still had fall FR when I was a rho chi. We had to deaffiliate from the last day of spring finals until the end of rush. I placed all my sorority-related items into a box (a BIG box - it's surprising how paraphernalia adds up), and that was that.

NPC MOI: "Resolved (2003), That Panhellenic officers be completely “disassociated” from their respective NPC chapters for the period immediately preceding recruitment ( not to exceed 30 days) and during recruitment so that their actions and decisions support the welfare and best interest of the Panhellenic community." (Page 95 2012 edition, emphasis added)
I think a lot of schools adopt the method aephialum describes that is kind of disaffiliation, but kind of not.

Could you do maybe a baseball shirt or henley with letters beside the placket instead of a plain t-shirt?
And yes Vito, they should not be disaffiliated for this long a period of time. It is contradictory to Green Book policies and can negatively affect who does and doesn't apply for a Rho Gamma position, as well as can be an unfair strain on chapters with lower numbers.

This past year, we had shirts with the front being the university's name and "Fall Recruitment 2011" with a paw print (for Pittsburgh Panthers). The back was a giant paw print that was made up of the spelled-out names of each sorority on campus. Rho Gammas got pink with white writing, Judicial and Panhell boards got grey with white writing, and affiliated sisters got blue with white writing.
