Baylor Fraternity sued

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/20/baylor-fraternity-death-megan-helal_n_1368287.html?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl11|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D145359

A young woman died after attending a Sigma Chi party. However, to quote from the article:

" . . . an autopsy report found Helal died of natural causes, and not from alcohol. According to KWTX, she died of cardiac arrhythmia because of myocardial fibrosis of undermined origin."

I am so sorry for the parents' loss, but it sounds like one of those things no one could have predicted.

I thought that I was the only one that had read that. I know where the town is (it's about 35 mi N of Waco). I am so sorry for the parents loss, but they need to understand that it wasn't due to her drinking, but it was due to an unknown heart condition. Suing isn't going to help, the parents would do better to do something to help the students know of how this condition can be identified so that this doesn't have to happen again.

I heard about this yesterday on the morning show I listen to on the way to work. The DJs were appalled that this suit was filed against the bartenders, the fraternity and the social chair - especially in light that her death was not found to be alcohol related and because she was an adult (who should have been responsible for her own actions).

Looking at the link, it makes me sad to see the related headlines, which misrepresent the story (ie "Baylor fraternity and bar sued for drinking death"). Why would you state falsehoods in the headline?!

Her death wasn't caused directly over the drinking and even if it had been, she was over 18. When are people going to take responsibility for their actions?

It's unfortunate though
