Red face Family Lost in Corn Maze Calls 911

Danvers police say they got a call of distress from a mother of two about 6:32 p.m. Monday. The woman alerted the 911 operator of their situation in the Connors Farm in Danvers, a short distance from Salem.
A voice recording of the 911 call was made available to the media on Wednesday. The exchange:
Woman: "Hi, I just called. I'm still stuck at Connors Farms. I don't see anybody. I am really scared. It's really dark and we've got a 3-week-old baby with us."
Dispatcher: "Just relax. Calm down. Your husband is with you right?"
Woman: "Yes, but my baby?"
Dispatcher: "OK. I understand and the police officer is on the way."

I actually feel sorry for them because people are laughing at them. I can see how it would get scary if you're walking too slow and it gets dark. Plus you have kids with you. Sense of direction can fade especially when you begin to panic.

I've been lost inside a huge corn maize before. Said corn maize was only open during daylight hours for this reason alone, people getting lost. But still, this time of year, if you go in at 4, and you don't have it figured out in 2 hours, then you're in the dark, and it gets horribly confusing. It wasn't such a big deal back then, because it was just a bunch of us teenagers, and we used the dark advantage to sneak a few make-out sessions. Said corn maize also had employees stationed throughout the maize, in case people got really lost. I can chuckle, and empathize with her too. She's an emotional mom because of a brand new baby, too (which wasn't very smart on their part).

I'm reminded of the rule I learned as a child...keep your hand on the right side of the maze and you'll either find the exit or end up back at the entrance.

I've never gotten lost in a maze using this technique.

So directionally speaking, if the entrance of the maze is north you'd keep your hand facing east the entire time? Or do you just keep making right turns? I've never really been in a maze before and I'm feeling obtuse tonight so can someone explain this to me?

You follow around the maze with your hand on the wall - if you hit a dead end you go right in one side and out the other

I have no idea but let's play the maze game:

That looks scary as hell. Perfect horror movie scene. Are we to assume that the walkable areas (like in this photo) are from the entrance to the exit? Or are there visibly walkable areas throughout the maze that do not lead to the entrance and exit? Jeepers Creepers.

They are morons. Who brings a 3 week old baby to a corn maze? Why not walk inbetween the stalks? Or yell out? Lol. Makes no sense. That was a waste of a 911 emergency call.

I never heard that, but that's an excellent idea! I still have yet to get to a corn maze.

Yeah, that's my question. You had a baby 3 weeks ago and you're worried about getting to the corn maze? Asinine.
