Post For A Very Special Person

This could be an idea that we as Alums may pass on to our respective Chapters.

We have a very special Lady who is 97 years young being Presented an award by our Ex. VP of the LXA Fraternity for the outstanding work she has done for us. A bunch of Alums tried to force our International to put her on the cover of our publication.

She and her deceased husband stopped by the house one day when we were putting up a flag pole and thought that was very outstanding!
She got us a flag that flew over the Capitol and gave to us!

Because of the outstanding work by both of them, Albert was initiated as a Brother.

I know how I felt when I was presented with the Outstanding Alum of the Decade!

If you dont do something like this, it may be a time to start doing it!

There are many people outside of our Organizations who do a whole lot for us and should be recognized!

This may be under wrong thread, but you know me never a dull knife, except with butter and women!!!!

Just a post script on the Award to our little patron, Mrs Mildrid Ligon.

Since she was to frail to come to our Dinner, We went to her!

I had about a 45 min. chat with her Fri. and must say frail at 97 years young, her mind is a lot sharper than many people in their 20's and 30's.

Sat. after the Football game, the Executive Sec. of the International gave her an Award for Detication and Service to the Chapter. She had a large smile on her face as she was so very proud.
She had a steady room full of Her Boys with her until time to go to the Dinner. I took Brother Robert Estes who had never met her to interduced him self and bet him she would say well yes I remember you! Boy did I step all over myself! She said it was so good to finally meet him. I really realized she is a heck of alot sharper than I am and she is 40 years more my maturity!

I am very sure that when Mrs. L passes, she will have Her BOYS attend from all over the Country! She is that kind of special Lady!

She now proudly displays the Signed LXA Coat of Arms and the Party we gave at the the Nursing home in Feb. hanging along side it and the composite of photos on the wall.

When i looked to see where I had signed on the Coat of Arms, she told me it was at the upper left where I never sign!!

I feel like the flat head of the tack when I am with her!

Thanks for putting up with this as I get very misty eyed when talking about Mrs. L

Your story is so amazing...I hope that there are more examples of people and Greeks out in the world today like that! It was very touching. No better time than now to hear about the good people in the world today!

Thumbs up Short Update

Mrs. L our little PATRON was written up in the local newspaper about her receiving the award from the head of our International

She talked about how great it was to see a group of young men putting up a flag pole and got us the flag! One that flew over the Capital. It talked about her and her Husbands Brother Albert Ligon relationships with her "Boys" over the years and many of them I might add!

There will be an article in our Cross & Cresent in the next issue! God She will be so proud!

Got to end here as am tearing up!

Question

Brookline, they came by the house when Albert was alive!

They both became members of our chapter and Albert was Initiated as an Honorary. He has since Passed on to the Omega Chapter. But This lovely petit 97 year old Lady has been to every Function we have had untill she went into the nurseing jail!

Now she cannot come to see us but We go see her! When I get to the Pitt. I always make it a point to go see my lovely Patron Grand Dame'!

I hope that in my dodering old age that I get the same treatment , but only if it is felt it is deserved!
