"Touchdown Jesus" destroyed after being struck by lightning.
The drive into Cincinnati isn't going to be the same without the Touchdown Jesus landmark!
The large Jesus statue iconic to Interstate 75 in Monroe is destroyed following an apparent lightning strike during a thunderstorm.
Motorists were stopped along the highway and around the Monroe area to watch the 62-foot “King of Kings” statue burn. The fire was reported just 11:15 p.m. Monday, June 14. Within minutes, all that was left was the steel frame of the statue at Solid Rock Church, 904 N. Union Road.

I'll clarify... I used to pass this dang thing every day for work on I-75. Now, I am a christian. However, I hate this statue. Were I there, and not hunkered down in my own house after hearing the Hamilton County tornado sirens going off, I would have pulled onto the shoulder and videotaped it.
-The pastor of the Solid Rock Church is the slimiest, creepiest, ickiest man I've ever met. I had to wash my hands after shaking his. Not only that, but the dude is loaded up wealthy. IMO, men and women of the cloth should be living a much less luxurious lifestyle.
-I cannot count how many traffic back-ups I have been stuck in due to accidents caused by people looking at Jeeebus/Big Butter Jesus, and not looking at the road.

Me too! Used to live north of Dayton and worked at WDTN, so spent a lot of time on 75.

According to this it was fiberglass and foam board - made to look like butter.
