I firmly believe that the world is ending...my cell phone told me so
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. First, my cell phone started flipping forward an hour at random times, so I took it off of automatic and made it a manual setting. And it STILL flips forward an hour just WHENEVER it feels like it. Then, my computer clock started alternating between flipping backward and forward by one hour. Then the minutes started changing. Not consistently, just every couple weeks, I'd notice the difference. Then, today, I missed a show that I tried to tape at 3 because the tv started taping at 2. So I figure, "Hey, TV guide must be an hour ahead of my time zone, so I'll just see it when it comes on at 8:30 instead of 7:30. Well, I get home 5 minutes after 8:30 to find that TV guide was right, it DID rerun at 7:30...MY TV CLOCK FLIPPED FORWARD AN HOUR SOMETIME BETWEEN LAST FRIDAY AND THIS MORNING. I repeat....
I depend on my phone and my laptop for everything like most Americans. All the big wigs who run this world would implode without them and I know a lot of people who go through cell phones like water because theirs keep mysteriously starting to malfunction without any provocation. So, the way I see it (aside from all biblical references that also point this way), I have just received confirmation that the world is ending because technology is just screwing up all over the place, which is CLEARLY one of the signs of the Apocalypse that just didn't make it into Revelations....editing reasons.

Calm down. It's not the apocalpyse.
It's the stupid early daylight savings time. all the computerized equipment was pre-programmed to make the switch several weeks from now, but they decided to make it early this year. so all the pre-set electronic stuff is having a FREAK OUT.
You have to update the software. some computers will do it automatically, but you may have to download software. Our IT guy at work sent us this info:
-------------------
If you have computers at home that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, you should receive the update automatically. If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, please go to the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_topissues.
If you currently run Mac’s OS/X at home, please refer to the following link for assistance: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305056.
-------------------
re your cell phone, try turning it off completely, wait a few seconds, and turn back on (all in the auto update setting). that worked on mine. same thing for the cable box. if that doesn't work, call the company.

Even if I took ALL my devices off of automatic updates and switched them to manual? And DST was awhile ago? This has been going on for weeks....I can't explain it...

the computer cannot fix this without the software updates. download the software.
re your phone...turning it off should reset it. if not take it to your wireless dealer and make them deal with it. same with cable.
and DST was a few weeks ago, so this lines up perfectly with all your trouble.
good luck!

This explains why my alarm clock kept going forward an hour for several days. I was waking up in the mornings very confused about why my alarm was going off at different times other than what I set it to.

I'm bumping this due to the weird technological mishaps that keep happening to me. While the world may not be ending, this is still a good place to put them.
My computer mouse (a touchpad) keeps refusing to function, even though I've cleaned it multiple times.
Starting yesterday, my "h" button doesn't work ONLY on my bank's website. I can't log in or change my password without an "h" and that button works everywhere else on the internet. I had to copy and paste an "h" to get into my account.
My mother's computer freezes whenever it opens Excel. No, there was no virus in what I was opening.
My cell phone keeps making the "dying battery" chirp, even though it's fully charged (I charged it last night and the indicator has all 3 bars).
Has anyone else had their stuff just randomly start malfunctioning?

I'm hesitant to post here because I don't want dreamseeker talking mess lol
My phone decided that it wanted to be one hour and 12 minutes behind about a month ago. Normally, I could just change the time back, but my trackball fell out and I don't feel like buying a new phone (I can still access the phone and text options, which is all I really need). Now, my alarm is late and I can't do anything about it.
That's the only piece of technology that's been acting funny, though.

Just as long as you realize how ridiculous you are in saying "my phone is broken, but I LOVE my blackberry and refuse to get it fixed."
Have fun choking on that premium data plan when you can barely use the phone.

The trackball fell out because I abused the phone, not because it's a bad phone. It's much better than, say, an HTC Evo.
And I don't pay for that. So phooey.

My phone has a trackball, but I only ever use it when I am taking pictures. I prefer the touch-scroll.

Yes, but I didn't have art till senior year of high school. Everything before that was tech/science.
Okay, one mystery solved. There's another phone in this room very close to me that is dying and since they are the same make, they make the same noise. My phone is fine. The rest of the creepiness still stands.
