A 2010 Slightly-Belated Bama Story

Since today is bid day and I know this PNM has a bid in hand, I can start the story! I know many prefer them live, but I just have this weird superstition about posting real-time.

Anyway, it's a Bama story, so the chapters are:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Omicron Pi
Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Zeta
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Phi Mu
Pi Beta Phi
Zeta Tau Alpha

I'll be using Roald Dahl books for this one.

Suzie PNM was very excited to start rush at Bama. She did not know very many members of any of the groups on campus and did not know much about the chapters or about recruitment in general when she began.

After round one, Suzie commented that she didn't really have too much time to get to know people, so she was more basing her rankings on how the houses made her feel (comfortable, uncomfortable, like she was being herself or not).

Her favorites after round one were:
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox
2. James and the Giant Peach
3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
4. The Witches
5. Matilda
6. The BFG

She said the other chapters were all pretty even in her mind, so in no particular order the other 9 chapters are:
The Gremlins
The Magic Finger
Danny, Champion of the World
The Enormous Crocodile
Rhyme Stew
Esio Trot
Kiss Kiss
Someone Like You
Sometime Never

Yea! My favorite from my younger days is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Unfortunately, these days many girls are referred to as Oompa Loompas since spray tanning came out.

Yeah, "Snookie" (Jersey Shore) kinda ruined the Oompa Loompa thing. Now when someone says it, I automatically think of her!

I'm excited for the story! I like the ones where we know there's going to be a happy ending

Round Two

Suzie got invited back to:

Fantastic Mr. Fox
James and the Giant Peach
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Matilda
Rhyme Stew
Esio Trot
Kiss Kiss

She was very excited to have her top 3 as well as another one of her favorites!

During the round, she really got to know the girls better at all of the houses and she said she felt more comfortable and relaxed at all of them. She had a couple of changes in her rankings within her top groups, but she still felt that there was a clear division between those favorites and the other groups.

GROUPS SUZIE LOVES:
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox
2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
3. James and the Giant Peach
4. Matilda

GROUPS SUZIE LIKES:
5. Rhyme Stew
6. Esio Trot
7. Kiss Kiss

Suzie would be happy to have invites back for any of these groups for round three, but she really hopes for at least a couple of her top 4.

I'll LOL if she ends up in Pi Phi (sorority of Patricia Neal, Roald Dahl's ex wife).

Round Three

Suzie's got invited back to:

Fantastic Mr. Fox
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Esio Trot
Kiss Kiss

She was a little sad not to be invited back to all of her top 4, but she was pretty pleased that she still had her top 2 left. Girls in her recruitment group told her that she should be very proud of making it this far with Fantastic Mr. Fox since they aren't known for taking very many out-of-staters, so of course this made Suzie very nervous going into round three...

Round Three, Continued

Suzie enjoyed all four houses, but she still really felt a great connection with her top two. She said both houses seemed like fun girls, and she felt included and happy the whole time she was at both houses.

As for Esio Trot and Kiss Kiss, she liked both groups of girls, but she just didn't feel as comfortable as she did at the others. She said she would be happy to go back to either as her third pref. She only ranked Esio Trot higher because she already knew some members and did not know any Kiss Kiss members.

She ranked them:
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox
2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
3. Esio Trot
4. Kiss Kiss

I'm really sad that my favorites - James and the Giant Peach and Matilda aren't in the running anymore.

Prefs

Suzie had a full schedule for prefs!

Fantastic Mr. Fox
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Kiss Kiss

She was ecstatic to have both of her favorites, especially Fantastic Mr. Fox! She was the only one of her friends who still had Fantastic Mr. Fox, so she felt very special.

Going into the parties, she really wanted to impress her top 2 so she would get a bid from one of them. She also wanted to get to know Kiss Kiss better so she knew whether she would be happy there as a third choice.
