RIP Bob Probert

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...of-windsor.php

He was only my age, freaky. This probably only matters to Detroiters and Chicagoans but..

Probert was a Red Wing when I first started watching hockey. He was one of the reasons I became a hockey fan. He lived a crazy life fighting drug and alcohol addictions but he was quite a bruiser on the ice.

We were also shocked to hear this sad news. Hope he gets some peace now.

Probert is also a small part of Blue Jackets lore, since he fought Jody Shelley three times in one game. Shelley idolized Probert, and addressed him as "Mr. Probert" when asking him to fight that night. Not surprisingly, the final score after three altercations was Probert 2--Shelley 1.

I always thought he was the toughest NHLer I ever saw, and that includes the Broad Street Bullies era, but it wasn't like he couldn't put the puck in the net either.

Probie was a player that I always admired and probably even idolized. I modeled a lot of my playing style off of him and his Bruise Brother Joey Kocur. I was glad when he finally cleaned up his life and went sober. Looks like it might've been too late and the damage done. There will never be another enforcer like him in the game.

R.I.P. Probie!
