I liked it, but I like all things Robin Hood. The critics are right that Russell Crowe's accent is inconsistent, but it didn't detract much for me. Some critics said it was hard to follow, but I didn't think so. I liked that this movie was a prequel to where most Robin Hood movies begin. Cate Blanchett was great.

Most Robin Hood movies begin shortly after Robin gets back from the Crusades and finds out about the injustice going on etc etc.
This one starts before that.

So this one actually takes place during the crusades? At least the beginning?

A basic plot summary without giving away surprises:
King Richard is on his way back from the crusades. A weird twist of fate brings Robin Longstride to Nottingham. France decides to attack England while the people are against Prince John's tyranny. It's basically before he was Robin Hood, robbing the rich to feed the poor.

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about that - did you feel the movie wasn't very "Robin Hoody?"

He has the same values before he becomes Robin Hood, and he's already a great archer. There is injustice, and he does save Nottingham in two ways. But with France attacking, he realizes that fighting Prince John and demanding the Magna Carta be signed will have to take a back burner to saving England.

Anyone else read Hood, Scarlet, and Tuck? They're excellent takes on Robin Hood and take the legend back to Wales. Pretty cool.
(sorry carry on)

Saw RH last night and was aight. It wasn't Gladiator remix that I feared. But let's me say this, my theater had about 15 total people in it. Hmmm. Shrek maybe?

Just saw it, I thought it was pretty solid, 4.5/5. While a tad historically inaccurate (I'm really picky about it being that I'm in honours history and that time period of British history is my speciality, but I realize that not everyone shares that particular trait lol) it was still entertaining and well done!
