I have a question...

I was reading a thread in the greek life forum and they were talking about deceased members. Some GLOs give their deceased members a special chapter. I remember some of them saying that the member had joined the "Omega Chapter" (as in the end) or the Eternal Chapter. Does Sigma Alpha have anything like this? I know we are still a "young" organization but do we have any guidelines for this?

Hi,

At this point, Sigma Alpha has nothing along these lines. Sadly, we have lost a few sisters despite being such a young organization. They are noted as deceased on our files, and I believe the chapters they came from may award scholarships in their honor.

How hard would it be for us to start something so we could honor these sisters on a national level?

I know this isn't on subject but were any Sigma Alphas affected by the events on Sept. 11????

Probably could be done through a bylaw amendment - wouldn't be able to be done til next year, but you could start seeing what interest there is and propose something in a few months.

To the best of my knowledge, our sisters were not personally affected by the events Sept. 11. However, I do not know if any of our military sisters or their spouses may be involved in the current events. If you hear anything, please let me know!
