Question Getting Out

Hi everyone! I am a new member of sigma kappa, so I am a pledge right now. However, I have a big problem, my parents didn't realize how expensive it was going to be and they are basically forcing me to quit the sorority. My question is: Is it possible for me to still get out of the sorority? I have gone through pinning, but haven't been initiated yet. I really need an answer asap.

Thanks

Ah Sweetie I'm so sorry that your parents are making you quit. First thing you need to do is talk to your Pledge Mom and treasurer. Most chapters have payment plans. So maybe between your parents, and your own savings/job you'll be able to stay. If that isn't a viable option; you should be able to depledge as long as there isn't any money already owed to the chapter. (Like pledge dues, etc.) All this is assuming you have not been initiated.

If you do have to depledge maybe you can save your money and pledge next semester.

Oh no! I am so sorry. But before you make any rash decisions, maybe you should talk to your parents, and tell them you'd really like to be in the sorority, and how important it is to you. Also, I know my chapter has AMAZING payment plans (like, x amount of dollars per week). The payments are so low, that with a simple on-campus job, making minimum wage and working four hours a week, you could cover the weekly payment. Check out all your options, and talk to the treasurer before you depledge.
