The Bachelor - Charlie O'Connell - Premieres Monday, March 28

So... ABC's promotions for this season say that Charlie is "really looking for love" or something like that.... I hope they are alluding to the fact that he picked someone and stayed with her (or they pressured him to :P ) or people (me) are going to be pretty fed up with this series... After the last Bachelorette, I doubted I would watch the series again, but ABC comes out with these new ads saying he is really looking for love... good advertising to trick me into watching again... good for you ABC.... and there are still applicatons on the site to be on the next season, so they don't think the franchise is dead yet...

The seventh edition of "The Bachelor" will premiere with a two-hour special on Monday, March 28, 9/8c
http://abc.go.com/primetime/bachelor/

Charlie O'Connell is a financially secure 29-year-old jack of all trades who enjoys a fantastic lifestyle and a love for life that is contagious. Charlie, a self-described fun loving "good guy," has long cherished his carefree bachelor lifestyle. However, amongst 25 beautiful bachelorettes, is there one girl who can stop Charlie in his tracks and inspire him to settle down?

While he grew up in New York City, Charlie currently splits his time between both coasts. For the last eight years Los Angeles has been his main residence, where he lives with his older brother, actor Jerry O'Connell. He also spends much of his time at his family's home in Montauk, Long Island with his parents, whose marriage of over 30 years serves as the model relationship Charlie so desires.

This season will be unlike any other on The Bachelor, as we strip down some of the formalities and offer viewers a less structured version of the program. On the first day there will be no limos, no gowns and no traditional rose ceremony. This time there are no rules and anything can happen, as we give Charlie the opportunity of a lifetime to discover if love is out there waiting for him.

Edited to correct spelling...

I don't know....I was so out after the end of the bachelorette this season. I don't know that I want to invest the time into this show anymore. Maybe it will die out after this.

See I didn't watch the bachelorette (mainly because I cannot stand Jen and I think they should have chosen someone a bit more, how do I say this nicely, worthy of doing the show (ie. someone who hasn't been engaged already and broke off that engagement). I mean come on, I knew from the moment it was announced Jen was the next bachelorette that she wouldn't walk away from the show engaged.

So because I didn't watch that one, I'm kind of looking forward to watching the next Bachelor.

On a mini bachelor note, I read the Byron and Mary just bought a house in Florida and are planning their wedding to be sometime this fall (I don't think they have released the date, which I can understand why b/c of all the media attention that would befall on them "the first bachelor couple to get hitched"). Knock on wood (just did) that I didn't just jinx them.

I don't know how much I believe this guy will find "the one" and all that. I've seen him out at bars and parties and mostly he just seems like a drunk ass who's trying to talk to every girl...but maybe he's grown up, I mean he is 29. Maybe the pressure of turning 30 has freaked him out.
I'm kind of over the bachelor/bachelorette shows...I agree with Schmeer though, it is more fun to watch the girls get psycho and cry after spending an hour with the guy...

I used to have a major crush on Jerry O'Connell - in the "Jerry Maguire" days (he was the star QB). I saw him in the street once with my friend after we just finished a sweaty, long dance class. He said "Hi" and I was mortified.

Fast forward 5 years, the friend now is the assistant to a MAJOR TV/film producer and Jerry is around a lot. She says he's super nice and very likeable. She has yet to tell him the seeing him the street story.

Jerry, do remember that time two sweaty girls said "Hi" to you in the street about five years ago?

Uh...yeah...sure.

lol

Ew, I don't find him attractive at all, but I guess there's only been one bachelor so far I thought was hot. Maybe I'm weird.

Anyway, until they change the format of how the show is made and then aired, I don't think the relationships are going to work -- I can't imagine how hard it would be to go on all these over the top, lavish dates and have all this drama and then suddenly not be able to see the person at all for months. They should air the show immediately after taping is finished to fix that, or send the happy couple to some remote island where they can hang out until they can go public.

I agree!

Did anyone see the commercial that aired last night? They surprise the ladies at their hotel and tell them they have five minutes to get down to the lobby to meet the Bachelor for the first time. No makeup, no fancy dresses.

Then, the host tells Charlie that he has to cut five women that night. The voice-over guy then says Charlie can give roses whenever he wants and can send women home whenever he wants. It seems like it will be more interesting, but I'll watch the first episode and then decide.

Are you saying I'm not memorable?!?!?!?

ETA:
I just checked out the girls. I have a few observations:
The first girl looks like Alyssa Milano
There is another girl who looks like Jenna Bush (green string halter with some green sequins at the neck)
All of them need to loose some serious weight! [/sarcasm]
Where the hell did they get those tops? The clearance rack at Rave?!?!?!

Here's what I don't get...

The next bachelor/bachelorette will probably start taping sometime this summer. Won't air until November though (for sweeps ratings). So they probably finished taping in late August. ABC doesn't even advertise who the new bachelor/bachelorette is until roughly two to three weeks PRIOR to the season starting!!!! So please tell me why these two people can't be talking on the phone and seeing each other before that. Heck if I was on the show and I was the final "rose" I would be telling them (ABC) I wanna talk to him and see him more than three times prior to the show airing and finishing. Because lets face it, these people are NOBODIES until the show starts!!!!!!!

Yes, it might be different with Charlie (although I rarely see him in the entertainment magazines) b/c of the papparazzi but a normal every day joe isn't going to have papparazzi around. Heck all they would have to do is tell a white lie to their family and friends and where they are going and who they are seeing. Or they just tell them "I'm going to meet the girl/guy I chose" and not divulge the person's name.

edited due to my putting the wrong O'Connell name. LOL. Opps

I doubt Charlie really cares about finding "the one". He's just doing the show to jump start his career (since it never started in the first place). You NEVER see him in the gossip/entertainment mags. Jerry wouldn't be making a blip either if if weren't dating Rebecca Romijn. But at least he has a few credits.

Anyways, Jerry is hot (love his eyes) and Charlie.....not so much.
