Hey there!
Semi new to the board, but I am here also! I mainly check out the recruitment information. I have always liked following that, very interested in any expansion information. I love to see the new Sigma Kappa chapters. One of my younger sister's closest friends joined the Mizzou colony this past fall! Have a great day!

^^ Me too. I like to see new Sigma Kappa chapters, so I haven't been checking out the expansion thread as much because I have been disappointed as of late. Not much going on with us while other chapters are really making bold moves.
This could have been a really special 12-18 months for us. We had the opportunity to recolonize any of 8 single letter chapters in this times frame. One day I was reading through the thread and started seeing a lot of schools that sounded familiar, looked on our SK national site and saw 8 single letter opportunities. We didn't take advantage of any of them. :-(
Epsilon - Syracuse
Iota - U of Denver
Kappa - Brown
Omicron - Tufts University
Tau - Indiana
Chi - Ohio State
Psi - Wisconsin
Omega - Florida State

Ouch, that is rough, and sucks... I wonder if Sigma Kappa has something big on the horizon, and that is why they did not go after these opportunities. I would think both Wisconsin, Indiana and Florida State would be excellent opportunities, but probably require housing to be competitive.
From what I have been told, we still own a chapter house at Florida State. I would like to see us recolonize and expand, but I also want our expansion projects to do well... Probably has to be a balance.
After reading through the expansion page, it does seem like a handful of organizations are really pushing for expansion/recolonization. Are any of these single letter opportunities still available?

As to Omega I have talked to some Sigma Kappa in the state and one in that chapter around the time it was closed and its a huge undertaking to re-colonize at FSU. Yes, we do own the house still, but from what I have heard the group that has been using it has been a little rough on it and it is no longer up to the standards that other sorority houses create in housing. Also, Alpha Phi just colonized there, so the school may not be open for recolonization for a period of time.

Florida State was open this year for expansion and AOII was selected. From what I understand, Sigma Kappa did not show interest in re-colonization. If the house is in disrepair, then that falls on the housing corp. It's their job to see that the current tenants maintain the property.

Fun time! Watched the Miss America pageant (and therefore Miss CT Irish dance to Reel Around the Sun)with some friends, one of whom IS a dancer from the original line, production, tour, etc... I forget about being starstruck, and then WHAM! I then remember, oh yeah, she's kind of a big deal.

It's been ages since I've been on the forum. So busy with work and home life. Now I'm adding to the mania by moving this holiday weekend to our new house (YAY!) AND I'm expecting Baby #2 in July.

I wish I was going but with my due date 3 weeks away, I'm. It going anywhere. I will have to live vicariously through my FB feed from sisters.

No idea that I'm sticking around but I've been re-engaging with SK as well as with Higher Ed and figured I'd poke a head in, and also like, change an ancient password.

Hi!! Nice to know I'm not the only SK who has popped back in to see how things are going.
However, I was definitely looking for this thread because my biggest complaint is trying to find a new apartment. ::sigh:: I'm in a major European city notorious for lack of affordable...nay....ANY housing!
