Look, I don't want this thread to get closed.
Rudey does have a valid point -- there are companies out there that just want to rip you off and make a buck by selling your personal info. In fact, that article he posted does mention the Gratis website.
I personally don't care b/c 1-I signed up for the Blockbuster promotion and bought an ink cartidge, which are things I was going to do anyways, so it's not like I'm spending extra $$$, 2-the email address I gave is my "junk" email address as that's the one I use when I do all my shopping online, so I get tons of SPAM there already, and 3-I opted out of the offers, so even if I do get a phone call from someone who purchased my personal info, I'm on the Do-Not call list and I'll report them.
I don't want an iPod that bad that I'm going to go out and buy one, but if I can get one for (mostly) free, then I'll refer five friends and see if I can earn one. If I can't, no harm done.
