I know how Lake feels. There's a fine line between being "enthusiastic" and appearing to be a "pest." It's hard to know when you're stepping over that line.
When a sorority doesn't do many AIs (which seems to be the case for the GLO Lake is pursuing)-- sometimes things unintentionally fall between the cracks. If AI is very rare for that particular organization, the people who are trying to help you may not fill out a proper form or contact the right people-- or they may skip an important step and not realize it. That's why it's so important to follow up, follow up, and follow up some more. But she needs to do so tactfully and respectfully.
I would suggest Lake contact an Alumna of the organization she wants to be a part of on the GC board in confidence for some behind the scenes help and advice.
