I am one of those "black folk" who didn't know which BGLO to join cause I didn't have no family/friends/nor peer pressure to help me decide. I am the first in my family to go to college and didn't have a clue as to what a sorority is BGLO or non-BGLO. It was a foreign word to me. I looked at the non-BGLO sororities that my white friends belonged to (Delta Gamma, Tri-Delt). I liked their philanthropies. I TALKED to them. I heard that there were Black sororities. I did my research. This consisted of a few things like visiting the LIBRARY (already mentioned in previous posts). I contacted national headquarters and asked if they would be so kind to send me any info they had. They graciously replied. This helped me a lot. Even if I hadn't been confident enough to actually venture out and attend their events and community service projects and eventually became a member I STILL would have what you would call a very EDUCATED understanding about each of the FABULOUS four and the service we do. And I got it on my own!! I wasn't spoon-fed info over the internet!
Here is another university chapter difference observed... Because at Spelman and HAYLE anybody in the Atlanta University Center--THOSE books in the library... They MIGHT have had cards for them in the card catalog--But, good luck finding those books... 'Cuz I can TAYLE you, once you pulled ANY of THOSE books off the shelf, folks were ALL up in yo' bizness...

Y'all that attended dees majority institutions were lucky--y'all got interlibrary loan and chit... I doubt ANYBODY in the AUC wanted us to know that in ANYBODY'S library...

All we had in the AUC was Club Woody's (Woodruff Library)...

OYE VELL, The HBCU Experience... Gotta love it...
